I know what you mean. I have some triathlon races on my DVR that I watch... the 'classics'.
Kona from 2004, 2005, etc. I watch those and they still give me goosebumps. Especially the year where John Blaze rolled across the finish, then the following year he watched from a wheelchair knowing he would not live to see another one. Then I think about how grateful I am to go out there and try.
That what gets me going.
X2. You can watch them for free on youtube too - at least 2006, 2007, 2008. 2006 is under 'IRONMAN Hawai 2006' (yes only one 'i' ); 2007 is 'Kona Hawaii Ironman (2007 )' and 2008 is under 'Kona Hawaii Ironman World Championship 2008'. I've watched all of those at least a few times each and they get me super motivated. Great to watch on the trainer too if you ever ride the trainer this season
If that doesn't work, think about making a big change in your schedule, whatever it may be. Maybe try doing one of your most difficult workouts with a friend, or meeting an athlete-friend for coffee or breakfast before a workout some week to talk about training and try and get you motivated. That would always work for me.
Good luck! |
