Subject: Triathlons are the BEST THING EVER!I AM NOW A TRIATHLETE!! I had such a great time at my first race last Sunday. I finished in 3:55:10, under 4 hours like I'd hoped. I secretly wanted to finish in 3:30, but it was a tough course, hot and humid, so I paced myself to make sure I didn't overheat. One thing I've never seen mentioned on the list, though - what if you CAN'T eat breakfast on race day? I was so sick to my stomach when I woke up (from pre-race jitters ), I couldn't eat my breakfast. I made my oatmeal and even took it in my car with me, but couldn't touch it. I figured it was better to go into the race a little under-fueled than to throw up and be dehydrated. I did manage to sip water all the way up until the swim, so at least I was well hydrated. I am hooked. I enjoyed every minute of the race. Now I've got my eyes on doing an HIM next year. You can see my race report under South Maui Triathlon at Wailea.
