Heh, and you guys worry about sharks.....

Went diving in Quadra Island, British Columbia over PResident's Day weekend.  As I was swimming along, looked back at my buddy taking some macro pics at the top of a wall, and there's a beast of an octo slowly coming up from below her.  There was no mistaking the octo's intent, it was clearly interested in her.  They are VERY intelligent (they say the equivalence of a two year old human!!) so it was just curious, but still, I thought she might want to see it.

I got her attention and we gave it a respectful distance.  We've both seen the video of the overly curious giant pacific octopus (GPO) who engulfed a diver and started sucking on his mask and reg.... as his helpful buddy kept shooting video   The octo sat there for a number of seconds and then decided to scoot off.

Of course, at 45 degrees, doubtful we'd ever be doing OW swimming in this water
