I don't care if you are a D or R, this is why we have the government we have.  The man was censured by Congress for ethics violations (things that if you or I did would land us in jail) yet people still voted for him.  I can only hope people realize their errors in Nov.  But they probably won't.

And many people are more concerned with voting themselves goodies from the public largess than with voting for integrity.

I can’t imagine that there would be someone running against him in November that enough people would be willing to vote for over him. If they’re willing to overlook his corrupt record and vote for him in a primary, I don’t know what could possibly happen in a general election that could unseat him. I hope I’m wrong, but I think he’s here until he dies or goes to jail. And if you ask people in his district, they’ll tell you he’s “good for the community”, when, in fact, he’s exactly the opposite.

I'm there with you....I can't believe that there are people still voting for this guy.  Just what we need in congress for new ideas, an unethical 82 year old.

Anyone familiar with the Detroit situation with Kwami Kilpatrick knows that if he ran for Mayor again he would win. There are people in politics who win no matter how unethical, destructive they are.

I also agree that the rent is too damn high.

Charlie Rangel isn't the worst case of people getting away with things IMO.

Marion Barry is currently serving on the DC City Council...

Remember this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVncpaZWxZE

at 3:35, the reporter says it would lead to his "Political demise."

Then in 2008 there was this- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLf2afgLP_A

Some people will never be held accountable.

I heard on the news this morning that this may not be a done deal. They have been counting absentee ballots and number of other votes that were previously uncounted for some reason and the gap has narrowed significantly and is continuing to do so. Stay tuned...

So what's the over/under on how long it takes Al Sharpton & Jessee Jackson to show up if Rangel is found to be the loser?

His opponent is Hispanic, so I suspect they'll stay out of it if Rangel loses. As of yesterday, with 94pct counted, Rangel led 43pct to 41 with a little over 1000 votes separating them.
