Could be my last post !

There's a tornado SE of Denver International Airport moving SE toward my town. YAY.

I am in the basement, sitting at my workbench, reading about aero helmets.

triathlon is wrong with me.

I hope the thing doesn't hit my house! I just got wood floors installed in the whole first floor, and my tri bike was just finished.

Later!

Do check in when the all clear is sounded.

And yes, there is something very wrong when you're posting to BT with a tornado on the way.

The alert that started at 6:20 is over! Yay, my bike is still in one piece !

I couldn't finish the projects I was working on in my workshop this morning as I need glue, and a charged drill to finish putting up pegboard for my tools (I know, boring).

For some reason, the alert was NOT on local tv, and I don't have a tv in the workshop which is the safest part of my house, so I'm flipping between BT and the 9 news site watching the weather.

I am back to my jr. post status.

Agreed, you should be outside with your video camera. Or better yet, you should be out riding that new high speed bike of yours... Just consider it training hard for the headwinds at IMAZ for next year...

Seriously, good luck with that.

Ignore everything I am about to tell you, and don't do it....

If one is on the way, and it's not too big of one, go outside and get some good pictures. You *CAN* outrun one in your car, so chase it down, and have fun with it...

Ignore everything I told you above and don't do it...

In college, I took a "storm chaser" class, and it's kind of stuck to me. Last year, I was about 300 yards from a F3, taking pictures with my camera phone:

Yes, that's hail, and yes, my truck looked like you let a bunch of little kids loose on it with a ball peen hammer... $12k worth of damage to my new Explorer...

Keep you head down until it passes.  Hope you have the new bike in the basement with you.

I used to work for a company that made information systems for hospitals. I was in the office one Saturday and had the following phone conversation with a person at a hospital in Kansas:

Hospital: can you dial in to our system and see if it's up?
Me: what?
Hospital: can you dial in to our system and see if it's up?
Me: Um...why? Can't you just look at a terminal?
Hospital: No. There are tornados in the area and we had to evacuate everyone to the basement. We don't have any terminals that are accessible.
Me: If I dial in and find that the system's down, what good will that information do you? If it is, you're going to have bigger problems than bringing it back up. Why don't you just wait until you get the all clear and if you need help with the IS, give us a call.
Hospital: Yeah, ok.

The call was just an attempt to gain some sense of control in an uncontrollable situation which is understandable. It still struck me as odd.

Tornado?  Really?  How did I miss that?  So, let me get this straight.... I not only moved to a place that has (supposedly only this year everyone tells me) 6 weeks of blizzard weather in the winter to the point you don't even remember what bare ground looks like, but we have tornados too????

Did you notice the snow two days ago, the tornado yesterday, and the expected 80 degree temps this weekend? Ya. That's Colorado for you.

I haven't seen a winter like we just had since I moved here in 2002. In all the previous years, we had one or two monster snows that made everybody fubared, then beautiful weather again.

BTW...have you got time to ride today?

TJ,

YOU CRACK ME UP , you pirate, AAARRGHHH!!

I do have a car fast enough to outrun the storm, and if the sh*t really was going to hit the fan, I'd want my wife, kids, dogs, Litespeeds in the thing and ht the GO pedal.

Lat night DID freak me out because the media coverage of the storm was very lacking. I am in a hilly area, and couldn't see anything, but the County sirens were wailing.

If I had been alone, with family safely far away I certainly would have been interested in getting to the highest point in my area, and taking a long lens with me to search for the twister. In the end, it veered off from this area and the winds never picked up.

I got the motivation I needed to go for a nice long run last night after being cooped up for ninety minutes and pretending not to be nervous to my kids.

We had tornado warnings last night in central OH

it was really freaking me out because we don't really have them in Pittsburgh and I can only remember the two drills we did as kids where they made is crouch in the hallway for what seemed like an eternity.

We had cool lightning and serious serious rain and stuff...but I dig storms...just not when they're going to pick up my house or whatever. My confidence in the structural soundness of my dorm building is...small?

We had 2 touch down in Cumberland County TN last night. I had 1 go through my back yard in 2003. It took down 13 tress and left the one I could have lived without.
