Subject: RE: Chesapeakeman Ultra Distance Triathlon : Official ThreadI did this race 5 years ago. I'm glad to see it's still up and running. It was a good first (an only, for me) iron distance; the aid stations on the run were well-stocked and friendly. The water is a little jellyfishy, but nothing too scary. Yes, the bike is windy, just think of it as invisible hills. Aid stations well-placed. If you like low-key races, this is a great one. Maybe things have changed, but the atmosphere was very relaxed - they didn't mind my hubby riding his fixie beside me for a couple miles of the run, I saw several people with family running them along. The only thing I would change is the DJ - no joke, they were playing Yanni when I crossed the finish line. At least give me St Elmo's Fire :p All in all, I'm glad to see several of you doing this as a first iron! |
