THIRTY DAYS!!!!

I started the "newborn baby" taper three weeks ago, so it seems like it should be sooner.

(I am soooo going to die at IMOO)

You may (nearly) die, but holding that little darlin' after the race will make it all worthwhile.

Yeah, I look into his little eyes and could care less about training.

It's amazing how quickly your priorities change, eh?

Oh, and since I ended up starting my taper a month or so early, I am not calling it a "race" anymore. It is now an "adventure."

totally agree with you on this issue as i started at "new baby" induced "taper" just over four weeks ago now............definitely changes things bigtime!

Congrats on the new baby. Ahh... the memories.
I'm at the other end of the spectrum. First kid off to college in two weeks. Trying to balance time needed for training with running around buying the absolutely incredible amount of stuff needed to attend college these days and the sad weepy feeling I get when I think of my little boy, now all grown up and leaving. (Moms are weird this way) Enjoy every moment with your new ones. The years go by way too fast.

I can't believe it's so close. It seems like not too long ago I was sitting in the conference center waiting to get my ticket to sign up! And at that time it seemed like the race was forever away.

"I started the "newborn baby" taper three weeks ago, so it seems like it should be sooner."

Congratulations!  That was me in 2004.  My son was born July 9th, so he was 9 weeks old at IMWI.  It turned out to be my slowest IM to date, but it was the most satisfying.  Don't bother to tell me about why I shouldn't have, because on this topic no one else's opinion matters to me...but I carried my son across the finish line that year, and it's a memory that will be with me forever.  I keep that finisher's picture right above my computer here and work, and it makes me smile every time I look at it, which comes in handy at work sometimes :-)

This year, we have baby #2 on the way...due date is Sept. 8th.  This should be interesting.  I'm betting she'll arrive a few days early and the race will be "ON", but I'll just have to play this year by ear.

That's nice to hear, and I appreciate you sharing it. I was kinda bummed for a while when I realized what a baby was going to do to my training, then, when I held him in my arms, well, I instantly had a huge priority shift.

BTW, my son was born 7-8-08.....ON his due date.

Funny how a little 8 lb bundle can instantly reorder your priorities, eh?

Here's my race report from that year's race if you're interested.

Take care, and best of luck to you and your family.
