I'm thinking about making this my first tri ever! Anyone done this one? Would it be a good one for my first? Anyone doing it this year?

This will be my first Tri as well!!

Hope to make new friends.  Already got the Best Western reserved.  Wife would rather me stay there than drive from Beaumont the morning of..

Will there be any sort of B.T. Meet/Greet during this event?

Has anyone done this event Without a Wetsuit?  Would it be tolerable?

If it makes a difference, i'm used to bodyboarding around the newport area w/o a suit...

The water should be fine. I have no idea what the temp will be, but it is such a short swim that you will be out before you get frostbite

I am up for meeting before the race. I have been out of the loop for so long that I don't know most BTers these days.

I will be a Swim Buddy for this race, so come and look for me before your wave start and say "Hi"

My thanks goes out to BT and all on this website!!!  I have now completed my first ever Tri and am stoked!!!

Though we can all psycho-analyze each/every event...my personal goal was to complete in 2hrs.  Did it in 1:39:58.  Hoping I can do better for future events since I ended up side-stroking pretty much the whole swim portion but didn't quit!! LOL..

Bottom Line.. I had a Fantastic time!!!

Good times!  My RR is up , even though the official splits aren't.

Did anyone else get over 10 miles for the bike leg?  If I remember correctly, I think my computer said 10.34 miles.

CONGRATS Islander -- Now a triathlete!

Yes, I got 10.3 or 10.4 on the bike portion, too. I loved this race. Well supported, and what an easy swim. Too bad I didn't look on here before the race, we could have met up. I'll check out your race report and I'll be doing mine soon. I need to check the splits.
