I thought the number was 150.  And I was 151.....darn it.

Speaking of this topic.  My job is going through the vacation markup for 2009.  Like this year I blocked out 2 weeks in October (which I'm not going to use this year).   What 's the date for 09.

Ok, so it was probably a silly question -- I was just trying to gauge the odds.  Sometimes when people think there is no hope, they don't apply, therby increasing the odds for everyone else.

Thanks , also found this little Nugget of info

WHO:
Up to 1,800 competitors, ages 18-80, compete from 50-plus countries and all 50 states. Upwards of  50,000 competitors attempt to qualify at Ironman qualifying races worldwide. Another 4,000 enter the race lottery, which awards 150 slots to U.S. citizens and 50 slots to international athletes. In recognition of their athletic accomplishment, age group champions automatically qualified for the next year's race.

There we go, only 4000  desparate wannabees like me.

So with 150 slots and 4,000 lottery tickets, your odds are 3.75%.  I did this math a few years ago when I paid my $30 or whatever it was.  So your chances of NOT getting in are 96.25%.

IMKY is still open.....

If you win a lottery spot, then can't make it for some reason, can the spot be transferred?
