I just though I pass on a positive review of a tri store: http://www.gearandtraining.com/gearntrain/

I buy too much tri gear on line from US vendors but I'm always annoyed when they offer free shipping in the US, but they charge some stupid amount to ship 'overseas' to Canada.
This place ships free to Canada (orders over a certain amount). I got some really good deals on last season's DeSoto gear. Anyways, I'm feeling pretty good about received my order within a week and no shipping fees.

p.s. I've no relationship with this store except as a customer.

I used Chain Reaction last year.  I was a little worried at first about sending my money to a website based in Northern Ireland that claimed to sell the rear cassette I needed for less than half what I could get it for locally, but I held my breath and the package arrived in exactly 6 days just like they promised and I saved 300.00!

I buy most of my stuff online from the US and ship it to the US and drive down to pick it up.

We have a few options by Ottawa and there are a few options in Buffalo for you if you're willing to make the drive.

Depending on what it is, could be worth the trip.

I've had my US mailbox for close to 3 years now in Niagara Falls NY.  It's 3 kms from the border, and takes me about 25 mins to get there from my place.  Very handy and the savings are unbelievable.

I thought a lot of places won't ship to a PO box - is this a wrong assumption?

That's the beauty of these places, they're not "P.O. Boxes".

The place I deal with for instance is

2315 Whirlpool St., Unit ###
Niagara Falls, NY 14305

...unit ### is your assigned "box" number.

Oh, now I see.  How does it work out for customs and taxes, etc. when you drive back across?

Bring all your receipts with you and declare what you got at the border.  They'll ask for the receipts and if they decide you need to pay something they'll tell you to pull in, if not, your off saving another 13%.  In the past I've crossed with up to $300 of stuff I picked up without paying anything.  But lately, anything above $150 I seem to get pulled over to pay the taxes.  I guess the goverment needs more money..lol

Or you could walk across the border to "sightsee" with a backpack full of tools, assemble your bike outside the mailbox place, and ride through a few puddles on your way to the rainbow bridge and cross there on your "sighseeing" bike. I mean if you were into that.

I would never be able to get away with any kind of tricks like that. I got caught once with a car part I had installed because I was way too cocky about being so effing smart. Or so I thought. Until my trunk was opened and the only thing sitting in it was my receipt and a poster from the store I bought my part from. Of course during the search they found a pack of rolling papers, which then brought them to bring a dog in to search the car, while they threatened that if they found even so much as a seed I'd be spending the night in jail.

Of course they found nothing, but now any time I get near the border I get so nervous I feel like I'm going to throw up. I stutter and my hands shake any time I make a crossing. All over $22 in tax that they might have made me pay if I would have just told them.

How do you find the boxes that offer a "full address" - and what does it typically cost to go this route?
