Oh wow. I was not prepared to like this movie at all, being a HUGE JC fan, I couldn;t imagine Joaquin Phoenix, and the idea of Legally Blonde Reese Witherspoon playing the lovely June made me want to barf.

But it was amazing. The singing was very very good, the acting excellent, and I cried throughout the entire second half. Never have I seen a better story about how drugs=self-loathing=bad, and love=good enough to overcome it. June's love saved him. And he was a real *** for a good chunk of his life. The Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jerrry Lee Lewis characters were great too.

I was thinking about seeing it. The reviews were great, and I am glad to see that you liked it sooo much you decided to come on BT and tell everyone. Perhaps I'll see it over the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks for letting us know.  Wife and I planned on seeing it this weekend but we didn't make it.  Will definitely see it next weekend.

My parents went to the movie opening day for my dad's b-day. My parents saw him and June Carter perform about 5 times. Obviously huge fans. He gave it a high rec and gave high marks on the acting and the music. He said he'd even go to it again. So, it must be good...my dad will never watch a movie more than once.

I couldn't agree more! I saw it on Friday night and loved it! I'm not even all that much a JC fan (although I don't dislike his music either), but I love biographies in general so I went. I'm so glad I did--it was great! Highly recommended.

I'm dying to see it too. My husband and I are going to see if his mom will watch the kids this weekend so we can see it. Glad to hear it was so good!

Hey Possum,

Glad you  liked it, I work right across (I work in Hendersonville) the street for the house of cash (all of his crap that they are moving to a new local) and one of my 4 mile runs goes right by his house on the lake (they are selling it for 2 mil if you are interested).

I have waited to see it because I wanted to see how a few of my friends liked it. I am going tomorrow to see it,

Because of this thread, I convinced my friend that this was the movie we should see tonight... it wasn't his first choice, but I always like a movie with a recommendation.  Well, let me tell you... we both absolutely LOVED it.  He went from being a "eh, Johnny Cash, not my favorite" to wanting to go out and buy his CD's and the movie as soon as it comes out on DVD.  And I whole-heartedly agree -- a very well done movie, music was great, acting was very good as well.  I give it a definite thumbs up!
