The Adrenaline is slowly leaking out of me.  Help me out.  What is your first race that you are GOING to do?  Is is too early?  I don't think so!  I am doing UBC OLY.  Who's with me!?!?!??!

I'm doing a little 50k fun run and polar bear swim on New Years day with Club Fat A$s.  I'll call it an aquathatlon.

I'll probably do UBC too.  But I haven't decided between the sprint and olympic yet.

that sounds like "fun" run or swim first?

That's what I was thinking! I can't imagine trying to run after the swim, my muscles would seize up!

UBC - I'm going to wait until closer to the day to see what my fitness is like and how the weather's going to be. I'm considering the du though.

Run first, then a waist-deep ice bath in Burrard Inlet Smile(ok, maybe just thigh deep to avoid shrinkage)

Now that exams/papers are done, I can finally start training/posting more!! WHEEEEE!

Haha Brrrr, shrinkage... Sounds like my upcoming surfing experiences in Tofino!

As for races,
I would do the UBC oly, but unfortunately I'm heading to TOronto for Canadian Lifeguard Championships. I'm also doing the Historic half in February, but my first Triathlon will probably be either Cultus +/or Oliver (for my first HIM).

Think it's doable to do a HIM 3 weeks out of an Oly?

Is the Historic Half still open for registration? I was thinking about doing it but haven't decided yet.

Sounds like a few of us are doing Oliver this year as well.

I am thinking of doing the sprint at UBC (have done the short for the last 2 years) but havent been in the pool since June (gulp!) We'll see. I'm hoping that with only 1 class next semester I can get moving a lot. I'm also considering the Sooke spring sprint, and maybe the triathlon of compassion. I want to race more this year...with a job, some money and (FINALLY) a car, a lot more options have opened up for me Plus I got a fast road bike...why waste it!? I'll be at Qualicum again for sure - love that race and the camping that accompanies it!! Plus, there is hardly ever anyone in my AG so I can finish last and still sound fast. Last two years I've been second and fifth respectivley...and last both times! Hahaha

I decided the other day to skip the Langley 1/2 and dive into the BMO Marathon.  Should be interesting to say the least!  UBC will be my first and I will be signing up as soon as I get home.  Hope to see you all out there...we can go out for beers and pancakes after!!
