I enjoyed it, overall. The charred Russell was hilarious. I’m a little sorry to see him go
(is he gone?
), since I think he’s so funny.
One thing that troubled both my wife and I: When Godric burned, he was exposed to the rising sun for a minute or to, and then exploded into blue fire and disintegrated. Godric specifically said, “It won’t take long. Not at my age.” Yet Russell was exposed to
(I guess
) midday sun for several minutes and was only charred and weakened. Seemed inconsistent to me. Godric and Russell can’t be that far apart in age if both were alive
(as vampires
) and powerful when Eric was still human.
I knew Tara was just going to cut her hair.
Witches, now? Really? I said earlier in the season that it’s starting to look like Middle Earth over in Bon Temps. When we get to Leprechuans and elves, I’m out.
The “intervention” was hilarious. I love Hoyt’s mom. I hope the way that subplot is developing means that we’ll have a whole lot more Jessica next season.
Ditto Lafayette.
Kinda liked the angry Sookie. The scene with her laughing as she poured the remains of Talbot down the dispos-all was great. Seeing her harnessing her powers was cool, but I hope she doesn’t get all X-men next season, blasting people left and right.
For next season, I want:
More: Pam, Lafayette, Jessica, Hoyt, Alcide and Tara
(but only if it’s the smart-mouthed sassy Tara
).
Less: Sam, Jason, Andy, Bill, Arlene, and Tara
(but only if it’s the trembling, blubbering victimized Tara
).
I wasn’t left with the “OMG! What’s happening next? I can’t wait ‘till next season!” feeling that I had last season, but maybe that’s because I really don’t have room in my life for more TV, what with Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire and Dexter about to start.
