Subject: Peak training hours for an IM: experience rquestedTrying to figure out if I have the time availability (juggling my own business, family etc) to even think I could get ready for a Full IM. What concerns me is the free plan here and it is around 16-18 hrs per week for some of the peak weeks. I am thinking of trying to get into the 2013 IM NYC and and the time is quickly approaching when I will need to ante up to register (assuming i can get in). I guess the question is what is the bare minimum hours( during your high hour weeks) that some of you have done that finished an IM?....for that distance I would be happy just completing it. If I wanted to get greedy I guess around 13-14 hrs. Right now I am getting ready for my 2nd HIM in May and I usually train no less than11 hrs per week but usually closer to 13, and that is really squeezing it in around my schedule. I am searching on how I could get an additional 3-5 hrs in , especially during those long S/B/R days. So if you have any insight or story on how much volume you did to complete the IM or any advice. I may have to deal with the harsh reality that I will ot be able to seriously prepare for an IM and just stick to HIM racing Are there any plans out there that are closer to 13 hrs? or is it just the way it is at 16-18? thanks |
