Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My brother is a major Pats fan. He is in heaven that they are undefeated, yet he finds himself almost hoping they'll lose one game soon. His wedding is the night of the last game of the season when they play NY! 3/4 of his friends are from Boston (where the wedding is being held) and the other 1/4 are from NY (where he lived and worked for about 6 years.) He's afraid if they are undefeated everybody is going to be in the hotel bar watching the game! I think they'll be better than that - just running back and forth to check the score, but you never know with this group of people (including myself.) So - he just doesn't know what to do - root for his team to win or lose?!
ps - I don't think he could ever actually root against the Pats, but he is stressed out about it! |

Why did he schedule his wedding KNOWING there's a football game everybody would want to watch? In Nebraska people do that during Nebraska football games and regret it. Like they didn't know the game was going to be on. I vote he reschedules the wedding. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I don't know how much say he put in when scheduling the wedding, but I bet right about now he wishes was more vocal about it! ![]() |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Put a TV in the reception. Not talking a huge bigscreen, but have a small TV in the corner and someone designated as score-boy (akin to a flower girl). Heck, have the DJ make regular announcements of the score. The fans don't care to watch every snap of the game, just want to know if the game is close or not. And this way, they can periodically check out the action but stay involved with the wedding. My sister's wedding fell on the same day as the major in-state Iowa football rivarly (Iowa / Iowa State). The reception had a large screen TV in the lobby outside the reception hall and we could periodically check on the score but it didn't detract from the fun of the wedding. |

Yeah, but here we're talking about a football game that actually matters! Oh snap! ***runs off to get Spokes for back-up*** --- actually - this game did matter a whole bunch. that year, Iowa (with Brad Banks as the QB) had a 4 TD lead against Iowa State and went on to lose the game giving Iowa their ONLY loss of the season. They tied Ohio State for the Big Ten title and because of this loss were not considered for the BCS Championship game. (they didn't play OSU that year) |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() He's not that big of a Pats fan if he is in any way hoping they will lose prior to that game, regardless of the reason. If it makes him and his friends feel any better, 75% of us living here in New England won't have access to that game either. Edited by MikeJ 2007-12-10 5:52 PM |

That's why I added the p.s., he could never really root against them! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You really think a loss before that date will make fans not want to watch the game? I had a friend who got married in MD and something in the reception was supposed to be happening right when the Preakness was starting. She was not happy, but we all basically told her... look, if you can't wait a few seconds for a horse race to end... blah blah blah. If he was a true fan (yes, I'm questioning his Fanhood), the game would be on a projection TV during the reception and everyone could watch. |

Hah! If that happened it might be a short lived marriage. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think people are going to at least want to know what's going on in that game even if they lose 1 of the next 2 games, as the Giants are really the last good team they have left on the schedule, and calling them good is being generous. I agree with putting a small tv somewhere and/or having the dj tell people that he will let everyone know when a score or turnover happens. The other way you could go is to get a projector and hook it up and show the game on a 10ft screen or wall in the back with no sound so that people can see it from everywhere, including the dance floor, and won't have to leave to see what's going on. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I know everyone will still want to watch the game no matter what (including my brother and even my grandmother who also loves the Pats!), but if they are undefeated it will be harder to leave the TV and get back to the dance floor! I think there is a bar in the hotel where peopple can run in to check the score. I figured out the best solution for everybody involved though. Pats win every game up until the wedding. That night they have a 1st quarter blowout so nobody has to worry too much for the rest of the night. |
