Subject: Hi I'm KatieHello Everyone,
I am new to the site and new to the triathlon as an event. I am 23, and even though I was really active in high school, I sorta lost it in college. Now it's been about a year since I graduated, and I decided a month ago that I had no excuse to be in such crappy shape. I swam and ran cross-country and track in highschool, and have a pretty decent bike, so I decided about a month ago to challenge myself to do something that would require a lot of commitment and raise my fitness level quite a bit. (I had been doing Jazzercise a few times a week ) There's nothing like knowing that if you don't train properly for an event you will probably feel like you're dying. Anyway, things are going great so far! I swam quite a bit my last year in college for stress relief, and it feels really good to be back in the pool. The running is good, and I found a nice trail near where I live that is crushed limestone, for which my knees are thankful. I'm doing the Reebok women's sprint in Naperville, IL at the end of July. If anyone lives around here (I live in Romeoville, which is a Western Chicago suburb ) is slow, and wants an occasional training buddy, let me know! Wish me luck, everyone! |
