Last year I used the Continental 3000s - liked them a lot.

This year I have been using the new Continental 4000's - like them more.

Michelin Pro2 Race ...training and racing.

I try to buy them cheap here or off Ebay for $25.00 a tire.

Continental Ultra Gatorskins for training.  Very durable - no flats for the last 1200 miles.  I've got a set of Michelin Ironmans that I'm saving for my summer racing season.

I have Vittoria Rubino Pro Slicks on my bike now. They are certainly slick They came with the bike and I'll use them for the time being. Once I wear them out I'll probably go back to using Michelin's for training just because they've been pretty good to me. As for racing, we'll see what type of wheel I get

I have Vittoria Rubino Pro on my tri bike, and just ordered 2 sets of Vittoria Rubino for our road bikes (wifes and mine), should be here tomorrow.

Continentals GP 3000 for training and racing. So far over 3000 miles on the current set. Never a flat. They are getting pretty worn though, so I am going to replace them soon with new 4000's.

Those are the ones I just bought. Haven't used them yet, waiting for the wheels to come in. Certainly look fast.

Hey, nice to see other people who use these. I won a pair of Continental GP 4000's from my LBS and haven't put them on my bike yet because I was.. umm.. scared. Not sure why, but going to a tire I know nothing about is a little scary, considering I'm still a relatively new road bike rider.

They have a very different tread & tire compound than the bontragers that came stock on my Trek... does this make a difference for training/racing?

Just replaced my worn out Vittorias (Last night, in fact.  I had worn through the tread tp the casing in the old rear tire!) with a pair of Vredestein Fortezza Road.  Very well rated tire at a nice price.

After the Fortezza, my next picks were the Michelin Pro Race 2, Vittoria Rubino Pro, or Continental Grand Prix 4000.

Viaza, don't be worried about those Conti GP4000s.  The 3000s had a solid reputation (only weakness was wear durabilty), and the 4000s are supposed to be an improvement.  I might have gotten a pair, but the 4000s are a little pricey for me.

Slight hijack: biketiresdirect does have great prices, but performance.com will match prices AND, if you belong to Team Performance, you get the 10% rebate in Team Points. Last weekend it was double points, so the Ironman at performance was selling for $54, got it for $40 and got an additional $8 in TP points. Shipping also was minimal since I was ordering components and tools as well.
