I see that it is still with accepting aplications...

About the bike course: I see it with lot of hills but it is difficult to perceive the difficult grades from the map.

Can anyone post some comments on the bike course please? I think it should be quite difficult since I see hawaii qualifiers on the high side around 10h40 for M35-39...

The bike course is not really that difficult.  There are a couple of hills around the 30 mile mark but they are steep and short.  Once you get out in the loop, the hills are not steep, but they just keep coming at you in waves.

On the bike, your bigger concern is going to be the heat than the hills.

IM Louisville is the final qualifier for Kona in that year.  So, if you take a Kona spot, you're racing again in 6-8 weeks.  I heard that last year, at least one of the Kona spots for M35-39 rolled all the way out and wasn't claimed.

wow! so it seems really attracting...

8 weeks away is not that much but eventually it would be just to finish!

Anyway I need to check out better how to reach this city...and the heat!

I think the terrain you ride on in Zurich would have more elevation than Louisville.. I did the course this year and train in a very flat part of the U.S. there weren't any real killer hills, just a constant up and down, except for the first 30 miles which is flat or slightly uphill. for the majority of the rolling hills you have a nice downhill to carry you up most of the next hill

I DO NOT like hills. . .    But I did not think it was that bad.  There was only one hill that was pretty tough, and it was at about the 25 mile mark.  You go out and back on a road with a deep ravine.  So you go down and up one side, then back down and up the other side.  Though the whole course was pretty good for someone like me who does not like hills.  I kept it slowish going out, and picked it up on the last 40 miles.  It was a GOOD Ride! ! !

By the by. . .    Are you related to Snake PLISSKEN from the movie, Escape From New York? ? ?    People have got to call you "Snake". . .

I didn't think the hills were bad either. The only thing I didn't like was for the middle 70 miles or so it felt like there was a constant  hot headwind.  Kind of like riding with a hair dryer blowing in your face.

No I have seen googling that getting online to IMAZ is almost impossible. I would have played my chances in november and then maybe loosing even the chances to enter Louisville.

I got this one and forget about IMAZ.

You guys want to know the hill I hated the most. It was on that single lane road that we had to make a left on twice. You went down a hill and then around a little curve, and then BAM!, before you could even shift, you were 1/3 of the way up the hill, cursing b/c it was now too late to shift. It took all of like 30 seconds to go up, but man, did it really me off both times.

Aww Sawwww. . .   The Single Lane Road. . .   I remember that one. . .  That hill kinda sneaks up on you. .   Overall though, it didn't wear me out as much as that one on the out and back.

When I was on the way back, I saw a girl layed out in the ditch crying.  Once I got to the top of the hill, I saw the ambulance coming.  OUCH! ! !   I got up to 41 mph on that hill, and people were passing me.  I rented some carbon wheels, and was a bit unsteady on those, or I might have kept up with the rest.

I'm with you there too. I was on 606s for the first time in a race and I just sat up and coasted down the hills. The time saved wasn't worth the risk of crashing. On the downhill out, an ambulance was there picking up a guy as I was coming around a corner at about 32. Nearly flew directly into the back of an open ambulance. How funny would that have been?

Yes I will prepare a nice program for that.

And of course, I am going to study the geography for that place so I will stay some more for a tour. I think it is a very nice area with lot of parks.

Well, anyway, I will be riding a lot in the area during the race Smile

Great training and see you next August!
