Subject: Should I do a HIM next weekend? This is my A-race for the year. Entry fee has been paid since last winter and my hotel room is reserved. However, I have been unable to train properly for it as I've been hampered by nagging fibrosis in my calfs and I've been super busy with work all summer. I had decided to not even go, but at our local sprint (300yds/12miles/5k) last month I was inspired by the DFL finisher. This lady, who was very heavy, and despite being urged to stop at T2 after over at least 2.5 hours on the course, insisited on finishing. She walked the final 5k and FINISHED! I can easily swim the 1.2 miles (1:10). I'm sure I can ride 56 miles if I ride easy...real easy (4:20). And I think I can walk 13.1 miles(4:00). Total time = 9:30. I will finish in perfect time to watch full Iron finishers. My question... Should I do it, or should I skip it and build base for next year? |
