Nice bikes!!  Like low budget bikes?  Check mine out.

Love the Santa Cruz!  I picked up a GF Paragon 29'er HT earlier this year for my MTB pleasures.  Hopefully a new skinny-tire bike is in the plans for later this year.  We'll see if I can find a job though....  Thank God for sugar mommas!

Love the blue on that tri-bike.

I am bored so I am adding my other two bikes to this post as well.  The cross was also low budget like the tri bike, but my road bike was from from low budget.

How do you like that Soma DC frame?  I think the next bike I get is likely to be a cross bike (I want to try cx when the tri season ends, plus i think the cross frame would be way better for my commute than my roadie -- then I could use the trail shortcut to work), and Soma's cross bikes are some of the few that are small enough to potentially fit me.

I love the Soma.  It may not be the lightest for cross racing, but it sure is fun to ride.  I could have gone either way with the 42cm or 46cm and ended up with the 46cm because I found one on blowout.  My twin brother got a 42cm.  I recommend them if you want a bike that you can commute, race cross, ride singletrack, explore, do anything with.  Mine is the older version that was made with Reynolds 631 and the new ones are True Temper, but either way steel rides so smooth and just plain nice.  And the big plus is that they are relatively inexpensive.

Yeah, I don't really care if it's on the heavy side for cross racing, since my engine could best be compared to the two-stroke on an aged lawnmower next to everyone else's V8 -- I just want to ride as much as I can so that I get less crappy at it, so frame weight doesn't really matter all that much to me right now  It's mainly that cross looks like a really fun sport, I like road-bike positioning but also enjoy getting off-road now and again, and I do enjoy a nice steel frame. 

Thanks for your 2 cents -- now that frame is off my "wish list" and on my "desperately covet list". 

If I had to buy the whole bike it would have been very expensive, but I took some items from my previous hardtail, bought the fork new which was the most expensive part, got the frame for Christmas (so technically I did not buy it), and I have a friend that is sponsored by SRAM and he gave me some of the drivetrain for my services of getting him to the airport when needed.  The total out of my own pocket was only about $800.

Ever have a "death shimmy" on that Javelin?  I have the Narni (same paint!) with the same Zero fork and sometimes when I am going downhill over 35 I come real close to losing control.  I'm praying it's user error and not the bike because it's been upgraded with DA and carbon seat stays, chain stays, and crank and I got it for $800!

I have not had any death shimmy on the bike.  I actually find it quite stable.  I can only guess that a shimmy would be caused by the wheels, being to stiff in the upper body, or maybe to far over the front end......but those are only guesses.

Good news.  I'm frequently accused of being too stiff   

I'll concentrate on leaning back into the saddle a bit more and loosen up the grip a bit next time.  Thanks, and enjoy that Jav!
