By that, I mean running shoes that have passed their recommended mileage but still have some life left in them.

I've got 4 hanging around that I can't bear to part with solely for the fact that I can still wear them. They haven't started to fall apart yet, so that means they're still good to wear on errands, to school, etc. right?

Steve

I have at least 5 or 6 floating around. And I have donated pairs too!

I don't think you can ever have too many.

3 pairs here...mostly to wear to work, gym (when I am lifting), and cutting grass. You can always use a good pair of shoes to cut grass in.

I have probably 8 pairs or so. Why am I so attached to them? I think a shoe must have been mean to me when I was young. I clearly have a shoe abandonment issue....

I usually keep 2 pairs around.  One pair for general walking around, and a back-up pair.  I don't really know what the back-up pair is for, but I always feel like I just might need them.  I've been trying to free up closet space by getting rid of anything beyond that.  I already have so many pairs of non-running shoes that I hardly wear, but feel as a girl I am required to own, taking up my shoe racks.

I think I've got 5 or 6.  I have trouble throwing them away just because they're not fit for running in any longer.  I wear them around on weekends for doing whatever, or for going to the gym to lift, etc.

Can you donate shoes anywhere?

Usually 2-4 pairs.  One for washing the car, one for mowing the yard, who knows what the other two are for.  Not to mention the multiple good pairs that still have mileage left on them.....heck, I brought 3 pairs down here to Key West with me.

I have about 11 pairs to donate, and I have 4 left for whatever.  2 pair are for training, and the other 2 pairs are for dirty work.

Hmm, let's count

1 pr. under my desk (just incase I forget a pair and I want to run)

1 pr. in my car (again incase I forget a pair and I'm headed to a work out)

1 new pr. to actually run in

1 pr. for yard work

and 3-4 pair just taking up space in the garage...gosh I really should get rid of them!  I just got rid of 2 pr. during the last garage cleaning.

Oh and I have the pair I need to sell on e-bay (wrong size but since I wore them I wasn't able to return them).

That's a lot of cash put into running shoes.

Too many shoes?  Says who?  How do you come up with a number?... is it assigned arbitarily?....    Wait, there is amore scientific way of looking at this...   Until you fulfill the mathematical requirement that dictates the number of pairs of running shoes you should have, keep aquiring them to reach perfect equilibrium..

 X=N+1

Where:   X=Number of ideal pairs of shoes

N= The number of pairs of shoes you have now....

So, you see... as long as you fullfill this equation you will never have too many....
