Did you adjust them? It takes a couple runs to get them right.....at least for me.

I find them to be an adequate but not perfect solution. I've used several pairs for four years now and cannot get them properly adjusted, they're either too tight or too loose, though neither degree is unbearable.

I'm seriously considering Speedlaces and would have them already if we had a local retailer.

I like mine, but it also took me a few runs to get them adjusted.

That's why the instructions say to leave some excess before you cut them. Often they require adjusting. Just play around w/ them if you haven't cut them too short.

I was hestitant about using them on a marathon and that proved unwarranted. I don't think I'll ever use regular laces again.

I actually love my yanks. But...like others have said, it takes a couple of runs to get them adjusted correctly.

I tend to over-pronate and wear motion control shoes to compensate. My only complaint with Yankz is that the elasticity in the laces makes my shoes "give" more laterally when I run in them, meaning I feel like I'm getting less support. My ankles were starting to hurt after runs, and when I went back to "normal" laces, they immediately started feeling better. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for my upcoming race....

I love em! Had to loosen them after the initial run but now they are so comfortable. Would not go back to regular laces as they always seem to make my shoes feel to tight now.

I have the same problem and I really had to tighten them down for them to stop the excess movement.....unfortunately that also made them too tight and it hurt my feet. I am on the fence with them, but I might try another set to see if I can get them adjusted to where I can live with them because they are awesome for T2.

Don't like them. They are a great idea but I haven't been able to get comfortable in them and they required too much fiddling for me to get them feeling just "ok".  Specifically, they are too tight in the toe box or too loose in the heel for me.  I really tried with these too, wearing them since mid-June and in three races and they're currently feeling about as good as I think they will ever get for me, which is not really good enough.  Yesterday, I bought a set of Speed Laces (non-elastic) and will train this week and race on Saturday with them.  Hope they work.  If these don't, I'd rather go back to the Yanks before I have to tie my shoes in T2.

afatdad - 2008-08-10 8:20 PM Hey I'm new to this sport, what is over pronating?

It's a tendency to roll the foot outward when running.  There are three basic positions your foot can tend to move - pronation, neutral, or suppination.  Suppination is relative uncommon.

To picture it, imagine your hand as a foot.  Hold it straight out, palm down.  Now rotate it like you are a water carrying a bowl of soup.  That rotation is suppination ("Soup-ination" is how I was taught to remember).  If you rotate the other direction from neutral, that would be pronation.

A good running store can take a look at you old shoes wear pattern, and also watch your gait to help you determine your position.

Over-pronation : foot rolls to the inside
Under-pronation or suppination: foot rolls to the outside

I've got a pair of the elastic speed laces and love them.  Much more comfortable and convenient than standard laces (I wear Acics GT-2130 shoes, if it matters
