Champion  9060    Charlottesville, Virginia |  Subject: Short folks, what are you riding?Helping a friend find a TT bike 4'10, 26" inseam. I have been pouring through stack and reach numbers and top tube length/standover height numbers where stack and reach aren't available to find the smallest bike. Right now that looks like a Planet-X XXS with these measurements. Anyone have something smaller?

She fits beautifully, rides like a dream when I use old-fashioned pedals. If only I can figure out the freakin' clipless system. So far it's pedals 3, Princess 0. And yes, you CAN rack yourself even if you're a girl. Ouch. It's only Day One and I don't mind a learning curve, I just wish it wasn't so PAINFUL. Oops...didn't mean to hijack your thread. In any case, I'm those measurements and the Trek 2.1 in a 43 frame fits me perfect. |

The first year I rode it with stock parts as a road bike and this year I put aerobars on it and gave it a little more tri geometry. I shortened the handlebar stem and moved the seat forward. I love my bike. It fits and rides like a dream. |

Leg- 700 Torso- 560 Arm- 540
And I looked it up and here's my bike spec: Virtual top tube 49.8 cm Seat tube c-c 44.0 cm Standover 73.6 cm Wheelbase 96.1 cm Chainstay 41.0 cm Head tube angle 71 degrees Seat tube angle 75 degrees Keep in mind that this is for a road bike though. When I was looking I also did some comparisons to a Trek Madone and a Specialized (my bike is the karma) and here's what I came up with:

Pro 4578 Vancouver, BC | Subject: RE: Short folks, what are you riding? I should mention that the one requirement for my bike was to have 700c wheels, so that might have changed the numbers a bit. Oh, and I dislike sloping top tubes, so I asked the builder to make it slope as little as possible. |

I test rode Specialized 44cm with 700 wheels and the standover was just too close. I ended up liking the 43 Felt or Trek the best. I bought a Trek 2.1 b/c I got it for a great price, but you can get a much higher quality Felt in the 43cm size than Trek (they stop making the 43 size for their higher quality bikes). The way I look at it though, I'm just getting started, could barely afford the 2.1 as it is, and can upgrade the components as I go on. Thanks for the tip re: Felt though. I'll keep that in mind if when I ever upgrade. |

Tri bike - I went with a 52cm QROO. I ended up selling it after 3 month due to fit issues, also sold the trek and I now ride a Felt AR4 size 51cm and it fits me like a glove after replacing the stem and adding a rear offset seatpost. I also ride a 54cm Giant fixed gear but that just for fun..........All through I have a short inseam my upper body is long which makes buying of off the rack very hard. It all depends on the bike and if you get lucky you can find one that fits without having to go full custom. |

It's a *very* small frame and I have trouble with clearances when I try put it on my bike rack and the can't use the bigger water bottles, but it fits me quite well. |
