We (meaning my family) just added another Weimaraner to our bunch. We got him through a rescue agency and talk about pitiful when we got him. Now 2 weeks later he is putting on weight and playing with the kids and our other Weim. It kills me how someone could mistreat animals like he was and all the others out there. Happy times now.

I love fur and animals!  They deifnitely bring smiles and alughs!  I was just talking to someone today about wanting to get a dog.  I'd love to adopt a greyhound, but I'm never home.  I don't think it would be fair to have a dog and not be able to give it enough attention!

I have to keep stopping myself from lobbying to adopt another cat. We have a Husky and our cat Darien was here first so she sees him as part of the pack but most huskies attack cats (prey). I have successfully integrated a cat before with another husky but he was old and Mani-Nana is a baby. So get a sweet cat and give it smoochies from me.

I adotped a cat from a no kill shelter in February after I lost my beloved KC in Decemeber.  I had considered getting a pure bread something, but I am so happy I have my little Charlie.  He is  kick and a very pampered kitty

I just got a full time job at the humane society and I am SOOOO pumped! Yes I think it will be an emotional rollercoaster some days, as part of my job involves euthanasia, but I can't wait to start loving on all the kitties and puppies and assisting w/ adoptions...

Read animal Shelter Success stories..

I'm looking to foster a cat, so I'm searching for the shelters in my area and reading the stories... Nothing puts a smile one my face and a tear in my eye than happy animals

That's one job I couldn't have. I volunteer at our humane society to walk dogs - all of them are so sweet once you show them some love!

My girl was found wandering in the snow with her two puppies, all of them covered with mange and undernourished - it was so sad bc she obviously had given birth to more. Now, she just wants the love on anyone she can!

Cool! I placed a Weimaraner with a rescue agency once. I was working part-time for the city EMS and I found him tied to the front porch of a crack house. After my shift I came back and basically dog-napped him. I took him to the vet hospital where they said he was pretty near death from starvation. He had heart worms and a few other parasites. Long story short, the rescue people paid for all of his care and placed him with some folks near Houston. Very cool.

This dog was nearly the same minus the heart worms. The previous owners couldn't handle the breed and in turn locked him in an outside storage closet. I begged for the rescue to tell me where, cause I would love to pay them a visit. Just let me have 30 min. with them and they would never mistreat another animal again. rrrrrrrr

I have a Goledn (Duchess) who is my absolute best friend. She greets me at the door every night and at the end of every training session. She sleeps by the side of my bed every night. When I'm down she'll nuzzle in and cuddle. When I am full of energy she will wrestle hard.

I volunteered at a HS many years ago. It was great to walk the dogs up for adoption but I had to quit when I found myself sitting with the dogs to be put down and crying (I know not very manly but true). Long story short - when I need cheering up all I need to do is spend sometime with Duchess.
