I really wish there was a Decatur Tri Club

Alpharetta right? That's pretty far.

 I'm on the south side of Decatur. Near the GBI.

I'm around Decatur, East Lake.  My neighbor and myself did our first tri in August and we are training together for another one.  If anyone would like to start a tri club in Decatur, we would definitely love to be a part of it.

I thought Tri-Atlanta was catering to that area.  I might be mistaken but they swim out on 20 towards Candler Road.

You are not far from me. Maybe 10min. I'm actually going to start swimming with the masters program at the Decatur Y one day a week (swim is not the focus during off season). Where do you guys train? Ride?

Jrm - you took the words right out of my mouth.  I ride up at SC sometimes, but I just wise there was more on the eastside of town. I haven't trained on Conyers roads, but the traffic is low and they look perfect in the morning when i've went out looking for new routes.

I too wish there was something on the east side of town.  I'm in Gwinnett and trying to get to the north/west or even in town for training is a workout in itself, just trying to get there.  Traffic is just bad.  Who wants to drive over and hour during rush hour to get to a meeting.

 Meanwhile, I just plug along on my own.

Latrina:  I'm so sorry for not responding sooner.  Not sure why I didn't get back here to check on this.  My training partner and I do our runs around the East Lake Golf Course at least twice a week and then we work out at the East Lake Y for our swim once or twice a week in the evenings.  We also do our biking around the Oakhurst, East Lake and Kirkwood areas.  I'm not a great swimmer at all and I'm actually looking into hiring a swim coach.

There's a group that rides from the Downtown Decatur CVS every thursday night at 6:30 through the winter, a few triathletes and some recreationalists.  There's a ride on Tuesday night as well, after the time change its just one leaving from Melton's parking lot, during the summer another leaves from Bike South. 

 There are running groups from Fleet Feet on Ponce on Tuesdays and Thursdays I believe, but I found a running group closer to the south side that meets on Wednesdays, can't remember the cross street but its on E. Lake at a little running store there.  Looks like a good group and I'll be joining them after my dog's basic obedience class ends. 

 When does the Y Master's program start?  I need to swim more. 

If you go to any of the Decatur group rides (most of those are Southern Bicycle League rides) look for the 6' woman on a 60cm blue cannondale and say hi to me.
