Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just signed up for bronze membership and uploaded my Garmin data for 2009. It tells me that data has successfully uploaded but I do not see it on my training log. Do I need to activate/change a setting to have it show up on my calendar. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It should show on the training edit page once it has uploaded . . . |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Can you describe what you did to upload the data for 2009? We don't have a Bulk upload feature for Garmin data, it's done one workout at a time from the unit. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yes, I went to the bike section of my log for this Thursday (under which I had manually entered minutes, distance, etc.) and then pushed "Import from Garmin" in the hopes of downloading the HR data for my workout. The data download began and after about 15 seconds it said that data was downloaded succesfully; but none of the Garmin data showed up for that workout. One other question: if I manually enter data for a workout, and then download Garmin data for the same workout, will the Garmin data override my manual entries? My only concern on this is when I do spinning or treadmill work, where the Garmin distance data won't be accurate (note: I don't have the Garmin add-ons which allow you to track distance on stationary devices). What would be best way to manually override some of distance data imported from Garmin? Thanks again for your help. I just got started on the site and am amazed at all the services you provide. It's a total blast spending time on this site! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() just a quick update: I did the update several times; after 3rd time, the box gave me a new option....rather than just the "Get Data" box, it gave me a "Upload Workout" box. So I pushed upload workout and it looks like it worked...only two follow ups: 1. What's the difference bw "Get Data" and "Upload Workout"? 2. After I pushed "Upload Workout", it went into sort of an hourglass phase where it said something like "Storing data on server"...it never quite came out of that phase, so I exited the box but it still looks like my Garmin data for that workout got uploaded. Not sure what the "storing to server" message is, but any help would be appreciated...thanks |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Congrats! Sounds like you have it working. I've only been using the upload feature a couple of weeks but it is a huge time saver over having to enter info manually. Well worth the bronze membership if you've a Garmin. 1- As far as I can tell, "get data" means the BT site is connecting to your Garmin and finding the appropriate workout for the day (bike or run) whereas "upload workout" is taking that specific workout data and entering it directly into the data fields in your training log like you would manually. 2- I sometimes have the same issue with the hour glass hang. As long as you see the new data there in your training log you should be good to go. Just save the workout as you usually would and you shouldn't have any problems. At least I haven't. I assume the hourglass hang is just some glitch in the web page disconnecting from the device. |

Then you choose to "Upload Workout" and the data is entered into your log. I think if you have manually entered data then the data upload won't happen. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've got a Garmin 201 (ancient I know), but it works great for me. I've been able today to get it to connect properly with the Upload from Garmin feature, but when I "GET DATA" it is searching the Garmin for data, and it picked up 10 different workouts, Great I thought. But it did not pick up today's or yesterdays, so I can't figure out what the problem is. I've also got this unit using Garmin Communicator to talk to GarminConnect, and it picked up the route details with no issue. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong, if anything??

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok -- Solved my previous problem... Can't read. The workouts did not come in in date order when I was trying to import them to the map. Issue resolved. New Issue. I upgraded to Bronze, because the idea of importing all of my workout data from the Garmin is wonderful. I've got a new issue now though. Because I have a 201 (yes, it's ancient)... It only records (so far as I'm can tell) a workout as a run (even though I have displayed the workout as speed. When I try to import a workout as a bike, it doesn't see the workout, but it sees it fine if I import as a run, lap data, the whole shootin match. Is there a way that I can import a workout, and have it appear as a Bike, even though garmin transmits the data as a Run? I know that there is a way with Garmin Connect, to edit, and make it a bike. Any insight appreciated -- THANKS!

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'll be working on something this week that will probably solve this problem. It's similar to an issue with the Forerunner 50 recording everything as 'Other'. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Testing the fix for this now. Here's how we'll be handling it:
So, now we'll be able to get around the "I recorded my bike as a run" problem. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sounds great Marmadaddy! If you need help with "testing" this fix, I'll be happy to.. I did notice it did not work when I tried to upload my bike ride on Saturday. Thanks again!

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It appears that many people have been helped in this forum! Can I add my name to the list? The problem: In the last 30 minutes, Garmin upload has crashed my browser 4 times. Background: I'm trying to upload my workout data from a Forerunner 305 into my BT log. I'm using the newest Firefox browser with the updated Garmin Communicator. All "tests" have checked out for communication purposes. And I have successfully uploaded 10 or so workouts. What occurs is that the Communicator gets stuck at some point while finding the workout. Sometimes it's in the 90's - the last time at 10%. Eventually the browser does not respond and must be closed through task manager. I am trying to upload (one day at a time, sigh) 8 months of workouts as the BT log is much more complete than Garmin's Training Center. Is there any rhyme or reason to what is occurring? Any help you may have would be, well, helpful! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() mk29, that's an issue with 350's and Garmin Communicator. I've experienced it myself (it's incredibly frustrating) and once had to send my 350 in to Garmin for service because of it. However, I've also noticed that deleting old workouts can prevent this from happening, probably because the upload/processing goes much quicker. Try deleting everything older than one month from your device and see if that takes care of the problem. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for the advice! For now I've been able to successfully get through 3 months worth by using a different computer without a single issue. As soon as I get caught up in the log, I'll dump the old history. A general question on the uploads... It uploads the workout and lap data, however I have not found any true ability to log the workout. What I keep seeing are just the general times/distance. For example, if I do 5m @ 9 minutes, but add a warm up and lengthy cool-down it ups my pace to 16 minutes! It's even more difficult with intervals. Is the log able to break down this information? If not, that's ok! I still think it's cool. Oh, and how do I direct someone to look at my training log? Is there a link I can send? Perhaps one day I'll have more answers than questions... Until then - thanks! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() What Garmin refers to as the "workout" such as warmup/cooldown/intervals isn't imported into your training log as it isn't recorded with the time/distance data on your device. That information is used to give you feedback while you're training but it isn't recorded with the other data. For instance, if you have a workout defined with a 1 mile warmup and do that workout, the device will tell you that during the one mile and record the time and distance for that mile but there won't be anything saying "mile 1 was a warmup" in the device. The link to your training log can be found in the address bar of your browser when viewing your log. Here's yours: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index.asp?memberid=119856 |
