You also might enjoy triathlon podcast as well. I listen to them all the time while training, and free on itunes.

What a great idea! Where did you get the audio book? Did you just buy it on itunes?

LOVE audio books and listen to them almost exclusively on runs now.

aquagirl -- I pay $15/ month at www.audible.com and I get 2 "credits" per month.  Most books cost about 2 credits .. there are some for 1 and some for 3 (the longer ones).

I've listened to quite a few (esp during marathon training) and really enjoyed:
> Middlesex
> The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime
> Bonfire of the Vanities
> The Twilight series Embarassed
> Ain't She Sweet

plus, many of the books at audible.com have reviews about the book itself and the narrator.  a bad narrator can ruin a good book... and a good one can make an already good book VERY entertaining !

Check your local library system's website. Our local library offers audio book downloads for free (just have to enter your library card #). Titles are somewhat limited, but I can usually find something worth listening to!

Just saying you might be better off running w/o any distractions and just focus on running.

I got in the habit of music when I went w/o I improved. Now I'll run 3+ hours w/o distraction ie no music.

I can't even imagine being able to listen to a book while running.  Maybe I killed too many brain cells in my 'other', earlier, life.

TriTalk by David Warden is a good podcast.

I use audiobooks for my longruns when I'm getting ready for a marathon or IM.  I tend to run slower when I'm listenning to the story and that works well for long slow runs.  When I do faster stuff I listen to music or nothing.

Left foot, right foot. Breathe in, breathe out. Not a whole lot of focus required. Some of us have enough focus to do both.

I can say my running improved when i started listening to music while training. That doesn't mean it caused it to improve.

I can run 3+ hours without music and just as long without.

Cool

I like Zen & the art of Triathlon: http://texafornia.squarespace.com/He goes back to 2005 and has some really cool talks while he bikes and runs. One of the podcast shows was made during his own IM while he talked about how he feels.

http://librivox.orghas hundreds of free audiobooks. The only downside is that they only have recordings of books with expired copyrights, so they're kind of old. A nice way to get the classics in though
