I'm now in Week 19 of 20 for this 1/2.

OMG! I just realized something. Clint didn't get HURT at his Ironman. No bike wrecks. No rocks in the foot. NOTHING???!!!!!

OMG! I just realized something. Clint didn't get HURT at his Ironman. No bike wrecks. No rocks in the foot. NOTHING???!!!!!

I took one for the team like he normally does......I didn't get hurt, but it sucked just the same

Ha!  Yeah, I was just taking one for the team....

It really is a fun race Ken, and Jack always puts on a high quality production.  The bike course is flat and fast, but the run can really get hot with minimal shade.

I would love to redeem myself after last year.  Had a great bike split going until every muscle in my legs cramped at once.  A 3hr + half later and the day pretty much sucked.  Great fast course though if you like hot.

I'm not planning on this one this year.  I've done it the past two years.  The first year it was HOT and Humid.  So much so that my stomach shut down and I ended up in the port o let.  Did finish though.  Last year it was HOT and windy.  Half way through the run the sky opened up and flooded the event site.  I was walking around in 6" of water. 

It's a good race, just a tough time of the year for weather conditions.

It's Global Warming, get used to racing in the heat  Just kidding, it's a great race, except for the run over the Damn with people heckling you from the boats about how wonderful the water feels as you slog across the searing hot road.  Good times.

Seriously, that dam is not pleasant.  I did the Aquabike at PM and the Ironhead Dallas race (Oly, so shorter portion on the dam, but it still sucked!).  If I remember right, last year we had some cloud cover at PM, but in the direct sun, all you can see are heads bobbing in the heat waves as you start the dead straight, flat portion on the dam.  And I believe it's a decent stretch - not sure on the exact miles for PM. 

On a positive note, I loved the bike and swim portions!

The run is bascially 3 miles to the dam and then 7 fing long A$$ miles on the bridge with no protection.  The clouds hit at mile 10 for me and the lightning shortly after so it was 3 miles of actual running scared for me to the finish.  It is a great race though.

Well... I'm officially signed up. I've been training for this but finally took the financial plunge today. My primary goal is to finish, but I'd love to come in under 6 hours if I could keep my nutrition on track.

Congrats on signing up. Good luck to you. Make sure you are practicing your nutrition now on your long rides and runs and you'll be fine. Just as everyone else has said, be prepared for heat and sun on the run across the dam.

I'll be there supporting my wife doing the aquabike so I'll be yelling at some of you out there.
