Subject: RE: Having a wee tiny thought about half-Iron distanceI've been training with a coach now for a few weeks with the ultimate goal (this year ) of a 1/2 IM in September. It's definitely a big commitment in terms of time. I may be doing it with more intensity than some because I've got a coach pushing me to a higher level than I would do on my own. But if you're already feeling time-challenged, don't be disappointed if you don't get there this year. I would recommend making it a goal in your mind, get on a 1/2 IM program and try to maintain it. It will take you to the next level. Then you can re-evaluate as time goes on whether it's something you want to maintain for the next 6 months or not.
I don't want to discourage you in the least. I think it's a great goal and you'll get a lot out of it in many ways. But when it's more stressful to reach for a goal than it is fun, it's time to take a step back, re-evaluate all your goals, not just the athletic ones, and let something go. (I'm speaking to myself as well as you. )
