First off, he gets his current contract, which isn't too bad to begin with, so he'd be complaining about nothing all season. Second, he can't get any bonuses for yardage, completions, records or whatever else got written into his contract. Third, he won't be in the spotlight all season, and will be reduced to calling in to Philly sports radio to spout off. Fourth, he has to sit and not play for anyone else while his last best years slip by. Fifth, and this is the kicker, he has to face losing to the Philly front office, as they will be clearly losing money in order to beat him in a contract negotiation. You'd be seeing his mug weekly on either ESPN or one of the network game day shows. However, some of his endorsement contracts are likely tied to his playing in a certain number of games, so he may lose some coin there. |
