Picture this: You walk into a restaurant, gas station, whatever, and ther is a line of people. When you get in line, the person in front of you turns around, stares at you for a bit, says nothing to you, then turns away. I don't know what it is about this, but it annoys me. Do people turn to look just because they are so nosey. Don' they realize that they know the person behind them, the person behind is likely to something to them? The part that gets me is when there is no 'hi' or even a nod. It's just rude.

(boy this sure looks trivial when it's written down)

I hate it when I'm walking somewhere, grocery store, mall, wherever there is a narrower space, smaller than my bubble, and people stop in my line or block the way. That aggravates me.

I have to admit I have done it, but only when the person in line behind me is in my personal space.

You know, that is why I like the lines at the ATMs, it is understodd to stand back.

This one time, Comet got all up in my grill, and I was like "Yo, Comet, know what the five fingers said to the face?  Smack!!"

But that's a different story I guess.

I hate when people stare at me, I don't think its trivial, there's really no need for it.

This one time, Comet was like all over my tire, and I said, "no Commet, I said lets roll..."

She said "no, no your tire's flat..."

And I said, "Comet, that's not my tire, and it's definately not flat..."

Huge pet peeve of mine too. Common courtesy would say that both people show they are making an attempt to move enough to get bye, but some people can be sooo arrogant. Even on a bike path near my house people will wait until the last minute to move causing me to slam on my brakes and swerve into the weeds...and path is 5 feet wide!!

It's rude. I get bored in lines and look around, but I make it a point to at least smile or say "hi" to someone I'm staring at.

Rocket Dog Butter is learning the hard way that it is not nice to sniff another dogs behind too much.  Got beat up by a bigger Red Setter today.   And he hates it when others do it to him...Such a prude dog.

Why are you hanging out in line behind my former father-in-law?

Growl, snarl, and bare your teeth, stare back nastily, or tell them to go to Hell. :-D

I've found the best way to deal with this is do right back to them or act really childish and stick your tongue out at them. If someone is a 'close talker' or invades my personal space, I try to move towards them until they feel uncomfortable and start to back up, and I just follow along with them. I'm weird though. Next time you get in an elevator don't turn your back to the people, just face them and see how many look away or back up to avoid you.

The whole idea of personal space varies from country to country. In the states, people on the train would prefer to stand than have to sit next to someone, but in other countries someone will sit in the seat right next to you even if you are the only two people on the train. It was fairly conconcerting for a while - but then I got used to it. Unfortunately, most of the Russians at the time hadn't discovered US standards of personal hygene. It's fairly annoying to be rubbing up against someone who hasn't showered or applied deodorant in a few days...

Yeah I hate when someone is on your ass in a line. -- can I type "ass" here?-- It's even worse when they bump into you more than once. Or their bag of chips rub you in the back. AARRRGGHH!!!

How about when the person behind you rudely turns to look at the person behind them, then rudley smacks you with her purse. I could go postal on some of these idiots. How about those people who jump a line at the front desk of a hotel, to just 'ask a quick question'? I could go on, but I won't...........

About the Russians with hygiene problems...well, that's culture. But when it happens HERE is what I can't stand. I was at the grocery store the other day, when a guy with the most atrocious odor entered the same aisle. Folks, I worked in gastroenterology as a summer job...this smell had to be the designer fragrance of horror. I couldn't even see straight, I was so busy inhibiting my gag reflex. My eyes watered. Someone can stare, someone can rub up against me in a completely open space...but that smell is my weakness. My normally inviolate stomach almost lost it to that smell.

So who's hungry?
