Elite  4583   |  Subject: 12.3.17 Sunny Sunday!Good morning BT! Having some breakfast then heading out for an even longer hike today. Yesterday I 'cheated' a bit--hiked all the uphill (climbed about 1,000 feet) but jogged much of the downhill...just needed to get the legs moving, plus running downhill on trails is fun! Hiked up over 6,500 so actually ran into some snow. I'm guessing I will today too. I'm doing a hike called Hawk Watch...the Goshute mountain range is about 30 miles south of me--it happens to be the migratory path of raptors every year. From June-October scientist live up there and count migratory birds, trap them and tag them, etc. I haven't been up there for years. Expecting to find a deserted camp--plus I'll be interested to see the elevation profile. Have a great day out there BT! |

Master 8250    Eugene, Oregon Bronze member | Subject: RE: 12.3.17 Sunny Sunday! That sounds amazing! The only "hiking" around here is the urban variety. I did walk a mile or so from brunch to taxi stand and went through the big mall downtown (Saigon Centre) to look at their Christmas decorations. Even so, hard to get in the holiday spirit when temps are pushing 90! It rained Saturday (of course) so on the trainer again Sunday for a 2:45 ride. Actually not too bad. Felt strong and saw a lot of new roads in France and Italy. Not sure others would enjoy these--I know many watch movies or do Sufferfest, Zwift, and the like--but I do a lot of my riding to Go-Pro footage of scenic rides in Europe on a Youtube channel called Bike the World. (Also another channel called HD Cycling.) After several months with no new videos, they have been outdoing themselves with several beautiful ones in the past ten days!
