Subject: Transition foot pool
Has anyone any information on a transition foot pool for cleaning off sand and dubris. Its a small inflateable plastic pool that you fill with water and leave in your transition area. you run up to the pool from your swim and clean off your feet before putting on your socks. I saw on at Xterra sugaro lake in AZ. I would like to buy one!

I've never found the need for anything like that.  Transition is usually on grass or pavement, which as your running across them, with your body dripping water on your feet, it cleans them off enough.   I sort of quickly wipe the bottoms of my feet on my towel while I'm putting my helmet on, and then wear my bike shoes without socks.  I still put socks on for the run, but I put them on in T2.

Is this what you're talking about?

I have this one. It is actually quite cool. The nice thing about it is that you don't need much water in it and the water doesn't splash out easy so its not messy. If you do it right it is faster than rinsing with a bottle, you can unrack your bike with your feet in the water.

To be honest, for most of the races I've done its been more of a toy than a real necessity, except for Catalina where the Transition area is in the sand, then it was really nice.

a) You really don't need one of these.

b) If you really think you do, a $3 tupperware container will work just as well as the $20 "pool".

I am not way an expert, but I was told a quick wipe of the feet plus baby powder does the trick.

I used a....shhhh - bucket....that I had lying around. Cost me $0. Okay, maybe "lying around" and "stole from barn" are somewhat synonymous, but close enough. It was my horse's bucket!

I thought it was great - I dipped my feet while getting my helmet on, so absolutely zero extra time, unlike with spraying water or whatnot. I then put on rolled-up socks, no problem. Try different options while doing bricks: you can either so swim-bike bricks or simply pretend you are coming out of the water in order to get the sequence down.

I used to use a rubbermaid box.  Then realized I don't really need one as by the time I got to my TA much of the sand/dirt is gone.  All I had to do is wpie my feet with a towel using the "brushing" motion.

Or, you may get an inflatable tub kids play with on the beach.  Get it in a toy store, much cheaper than the ones in tri stores.

The Loaring Tri at a bucket of water for our feet as we had to run in the sand! It only took a second to jump in and jump out!

The tris I do with a beach swim provide a series of kiddie pools to run through between the swim exit and transition. Keeps the water, the spillage, and some of the buckets out of transition.

totally get a bucket. Only real triathletes get buckets

Seriously...get a bike bottle, put some water in it, spray the feet and move on. Keep it simple.

4 buckets, two for the feet, two for the hands   Stack them up afterwards so they don't get in the way!

people, there is no need to rinse off your feet before getting on your bike. you wont notice any dirt or debris on your feet once you're hammering down the road. you're just wasting time in a sprint or oly. unless its a rock, you wont even know its there.

Agreed. Most of the time, I either forget to rinse my feet or don't need to. But I always have a bottle there just in case.
