Just over two weeks until the event.   It will be my second race and first olympic distance.

Who else is in and what distance?

I'm in for the Sprint. Just did the Lake Las Vegas Sprint, which was my first of the year (after relocating to Henderson from Detroit about a year ago.) Sounds like it's a fairly gentle bike and run course, huh?

I was at the Lake Las Vegas sprint also (my first race), but didn't manage to see any BT'er's that were doing the race.

If anyone wants, we can schedule a BT group meet at the Hacienda Saturday during packet pickup.  Our family is also staying at the Lake Mead RV village race night so if any of you want to stop by feel free.  PM me for details and I'll send info once I have specifics on our RV site.   I'll also have my wife doing her best to take pictures during this race (we've got a 1 year old daughter and 4 year old son so that's always challenging).  I'll post them up to flicker post race.   Maybe we can get a group pre and post race shot as well.

I am in for the OlympicSmile.  I also did the Lake Las Vegas Oly and the Las Vegas is a much more challenging course.  Some pretty good climbs on the bike and the run is on a rough trail (really slows me down).  Weather is getting nice though and it should be a great time.  Good luck!  Chet

The bike is easy if you like hills.  The run can be an ankle turner at the start, but after that it is a packed dirt road.

Hias all, I am signing up for the HIM. I was signed up for a HIM in CA, but it got cancelled yesterday so I had to grab the next closest one. I just started training about a year ago so my goal is to finish the HIM not set any land speed records. My name is Steve. Any thoughts about where/how to meet up Saturday or Sunday?

I'm up for either or both.  Would be fun to get a race morning picture of the group on Sunday after everyone is checked in and marked.  For Saturday, packet pickup is 2 - 5 I think.   I'm driving our RV to the Lake Mead campground for the event.   Will either stop by the packet pickup before we go to the campground, or take my mtn bike along and ride to the Haciendia.   Have my family along, but still pretty flexible for whatever we can work out.

That's a nice spring day here Baowolf.  Not hot at all.  Compared to running in 110-115, 95 is sweet.

Bah caught a cold with 1 week to HIM. It probably didn't help that the temp dropped from mid 60s to 40's with rain, wind, lightning for the last 90 min of my bikeride today. Sigh. Hope my lungs clear up soon. I'll be coming either way. /emote looks online quickly to find an oxygen tank that will fit inbetween my arro bars. So where we meeting up anyway?

Race results are posted.

Congrats to everyone who particpated and thanks to the organizeers and all volunteers for making this a great event.

Happy to have finished my first Olympic distance event.  Was nice to have a slightly overcast start for the event as the daytime high was going to be near 100.   Had to be tough for those of you doing the half.

Looking forward to reading others race reports as I can only base mine on three months of training and two races.

Yay completed my first HIM there on Sunday. I saw high of 105 as I packed up my stuff from transition after the run. Grats on your first OLY. I actually finished 3rd of 14 in age group, but they never posted the HIM results so who knew. That run got pretty hot and they um forgot to set up an aid station or misplaced them for the HIM. We had 3 stretches of 2.5 miles between aid stations. They really need to create a better post race reception as well.

That bike course was really hilly for the HIM. But very pretty for both the bike and run.

Did they say who won that bike anywhere?

Posted other comments in your RR.   Definately a difference in organization between the Olympic and Half it seems.   Also I'd agree with you on the hills.   One of the event sites said it was 'gently rolling hills with one decent hill'.   An earlier post in this thread said 'Hope you like hills'.   I'd agree with the BT member.   I don't think there were any flat parts of the course.   For the Olympic the toughest part had to around miles 21 to 23.  This was after you passed the tollboth and rode up to the visitor center to turn around.  At least you knew from there it was only 2 miles back downhill to the bike finish.   For the run, at least it was uphill at the start and not to finish.

Event photo's are posted.   Was looking through the lost and found and saw one lady starting the bike leg with her helmet on backwards.   I wonder if it's more aero that way

I may do this one again, but will bring salt tabs and a camelback to cover the lack of water stations and have my own food for the post race reception, ice cold coke ahh. Maybe in 2 years I'll read next year's race reports and see if they fixed the aid station situation. Not sure I want to run with the extra 45 oz of water on me for the half mary. Would have been nice this go round though.
