Another 305 Upload Problem Thread . . . .Sorry!

Have you tried updating the firmware on the unit?

The same thing started happening to me about two weeks ago with my 305. It doesn't happen every time, it's about every 2 out of 3 times. It appears to be a problem with the unit itself as it happens to me on the Garmin website also. Windows has also decided that it needs to reinstall the Garmin USB drivers a couple of times. Garmin WebUpdater also couldn't run as it was experiencing USB communications problems.

Garmin did just release a new firmware update (version 2.9) to the 305 a few days ago, but I've been unable to install it. The updater keeps returning "unable to communicate with the device" messages.

So, it's very possible that we're both encountering a similiar hardware issue.  My next step is contacting Garmin support.

Try it on the Garmin website and see if it will upload there. What you're describing is indicative of a problem with the unit because it's never getting to the BT code.

We're going to be releasing a new version of our uploading code later this week that's much faster and more stable.

It's either a problem with the Garmin hardware or software. I'm contacting them about it this morning.

Turns out my 305 has a hardware problem so it's being sent back to them to be refurbed. It's out of warranty by 2 months, but they cut the usual refurb fee significantly. I'm quite satisfied with their response.

Here's what they recommend you take look at: It's a communication error, so bypass any USB hubs or extensions and make sure that you're plugging in the unit directly to the computer. Also make sure that you're running the latest version of WebUpdater. There was a new version released last week.

If you still can't get it to upload, contact Garmin Support to have them walk you through the troubleshooting/return authorization process. Garmin customer support in my experience is top notch. I spoke with Trish who was fantastic. It's a very customer focused company.

I am now having a Garmin issue.  Trying to upload my run today I get this message

0 undefined workouts for 4/28/2009 found.

I can see the workout in my Garmin Training center and on the watch but can't upload it for some reason.  It was working fine a few days ago.

Ditto - same message - except mine is with the 405.

My 205 does it every now and then. I close out Garmin Communicator, kill the Firefox process tree, and try again later. I upgraded the software on the unit but it still does it occasionally. I also got the latest TC software because sometimes TC wouldn't be able to upload either, but it wouldn't lock up. It would just give a generic "Trouble communicating" error message.

I have a different problem now and have started a new thread.

We applied a fix in the latest update yesterday.  Does it work for all of you?

Seemed to start work for me today with no repeat of the same problem. Maybe it's been fixed.

I have a first time issue uploading my forerunner 305.  I did a workout today under training - workouts - interval - timed.  When I uploaded it to BT I got the HR data but no Lap data.  I have heard you can't upload from multisport - same with the workouts or is this just and error?
