Subject: RE: Racing Injured - Swim, Bike, ???How badly do you want to do this race, and for what reasons?
If you a ) want to do the race because you are aching to compete, I would not do the race at all, or like others have said, just swim and bike (but make sure that there are people there who will stop you from running incase you decide you 'feel ok'. )
If you b ) are the type of person (or are truly at this mentality at this point ) who races because you love racing for the sheer enjoyment of the atmosphere, swimming, biking, running, endorphines - the general experience, I would definitely say do the swim and the bike, but don't run.
If you are b ) and love the feeling of finishing a race (or it would bother you if you didn't finish ) and you have decided for certain that you are 100% fine with walking, then I would say go ahead and walk the run. BUT I would make sure you have friends there who can verbally remind you in the case that you end up feeling good and think '3 miles won't hurt.'
Remember, this is only one race. If you aggravate the injury, it could cost you potentially a season. Heal well! |
