Just wondering if any guys like putting up the Christmas decorations?

My husband wants nothing to do with holiday decorations (but he did put them up for his mom).

My Dad is in charge of displaying the holiday houses and outside lights.

As far as I'm concerned, for a property to be considered adequately decorated and lit at Christmastime, pilots should be able to use it for visual navigation at 20,000 feet.

My wife disagrees, so the outdoor lighting so far is minimal (to me). I add a little every year.

Both indoors and outdoors is a constant compromise between "tasteful and classic" (her) and "anything worth doing is worth overdoing" (me).

I definitely like putting up the lights both exterior and on the tree.  I'm also the VP for Holiday Conifer Procurement in my house but, as CEO of the whole operation, she oversees said conifer procurement.  It usually goes something like "are you sure that's less than 8 feet tall?"  Unfortunately, I've been lax in getting the exterior done this year which was STOOPID.  We had several days in Nov that were above 50°F and I could have gotten it done then.  Now its effing freezing but I do still plan to get those effing lights up even if I have to fall off the effing roof in the effing process! So convienent to NOT have electrical outlets anywhere near the front porch.

I get to vote in my house, but the ballot somehow gets thrown out by the election judge.

I'm not big on decorating. I absolutely hate clutter, and Christmas decorations just add clutter. It gives me the willies to see all those damn tchotchkies sitting everywhere.

There's a few people in my area who leave them up until spring. Some of them turn the lights on every night through the winter until they take them down.

THAT I respect.

This is the first time I have ever lived by myself for the holidays. But it does feel like christmas because there is a giant christman tree decorated next to my place and its cold here now. I went and paid 10 bucks for a candle that smelled like a christmas tree in the store but just smells like hot wax now. So I guess I'm going to go out and get a tree and all that stuff.

Ok, so I do every bit of the decorating all by myself.  I buy the lights, I untangle the lights, I climb up on the ladder and attach them to the house, I hang the wreath, I decorate the tree, I hang the stockings, I do all the Santa shopping, I re-decorate the tree after the cat and dog destroy it, etc...  I do it all and my husband doesn't lift one lazy finger to help me.  Oh, did I mention he is Jewish?    He is in charge of the menorah.

And, by the way, I do take the lights down in January even if it is frickin' cold out!  I hate seeing people with Christmas lights on in February let alone Spring or Summer.

I do the outside, she does the inside.  If I had my choice, my house would look like the Griswold house, but my wife want's tasteful. So it's a bit of a compromise.  I'll see if I can get some pics of it tonight

Like? Nope. Do? Yes. My husband has decided not to do the outside this year, as some sort of silent protest or something. Like he's Ghandi. Another day or two of nagging, and I should see some lights up front. As for the tree, I choose, I supervise, and then I tweak when the ugly ornaments are stuck in prominent places.

I have no Christmas cheer left.  Thank my job and the people who worship there for that.

Decorate?  I'm lucky if I happen to wear red and green boxers.

OK, so I didn't fall off the roof but I DID fall off the ladder.  As I started to come down the ladder, something under one of the feet gave way and it started to slide along the wall so I just jumped off.  I'm OK - it ended up being like jumping off a 6 or 8 foot ledge onto hard, flat ground.  I felt and heard a nice crunch in my spine right between my shoulder blades but I have all range of motion and no acute pain.  Merry effin Christmas, right?

BTW: the lights look good.
