I haven't stayed up to watch the New Year come in in at least 10 years. For a long time I was on an early shift and had to get up at 0400 on New Years day, but now I am just not interested in it any more. Fuddy Duddy will be going to bed before 10pm.

What am I really missing? Who loves New Years eve?

Not me! I'll be going to bed about 9p as usual. If it's not raining, I'll be running in the morning, then hitting the gym in the afternoon. Just another day!

I don't think I have stayed up to MN on NYE in like 30 years - unless I was on call.

heading to sleep shortly so I can make the 50 mile group ride tomorrow - my big decision whether to ride to the ride (about 45 mins) or drive - leaning towards the latter as I HATE the GWB

Our teenage son (16) got invited to a friends for a last minute party (supervised). Hubby and I were just discussing should we stay up or not

No, as I plan to do a four hour ride early tomorrow.  Mass insanity is not my style.  That's better than saying I'm old.   I'll admit to being older but never "old"....    Innocent

No festivities for me this year. I woke up sick today, and I dont think a little of grandpas old cough medicine is going to help me out.

We are sipping our champagne now.  It is already the new year in Brazil and we are celebrating with the Brazilian daughter.  I think we will skip the jumping seven waves.

We often go to a movie on NYE and then try to stay up til midnight to say happy new years to the neighbors.  However, both me and my SO are sick, and don't wish to spread it around.  We are going to rent a movie--whether midnight happens or not, remains to be seen!  Happy New Year to all, whenever you see it!

As I sit in my office watching the year end process trudge along I am struck by the thought that I'll be here until 2:00 am. Celebrating will come when my 16 hour shift ends.

No chance I'm up for another hour and a half.  Riding in the morning, then cooking black-eyed peas, corned beef and cabbage.  Happy New Year!

Up at 0520!

Ready to tackle the day. Maybe a little trail run, some CrossFit in the afternoon. Home Depot too.

i made it to 11:30, reading in bed and just couldn't keep my eyes anymore!

a favorite family memory is when my cousins and i were kids and slept at our grandmother's on new years, she let us make confetti and throw it at 9 pm.  i texted my cousin last night to tell her "the grown up version of confetti at 9 is champagne at 7" when my husband and i popped the bubbly at dinner, knowing we wouldn't make it to midnight!

A few years ago we started going out to this Indian restaurant here in Madrid on New Year's Eve (pause to let that one sink in for a minute). Its important that kids have traditions as goofy as some of them might be to remember. Over dinner we debated what qualified as a sport and what didn't make the cut and was delegated to hobby or activity. After dinner back at the house we talked about the good and the bad of 2012 and what we're looking forward to in 2013. Having struggled to stay awake this far, the clock struck 12:00, we ate the 12 grapes (a Spanish thing), and was asleep by 12:10.

Happy 2013 all.
