Introducing Mr. Whiskers...

I had that happen 3 times in the last month and a half.  Congratulations on 20 years of fun.

P.S. that was a leather sofa right...

I tried to convince my wife this should happen at our house when a news story came on about overcrowded animal shelters full of kitties but she would have none of it, insisting our 1800 SF house was full enough with 2 dogs and 1 cat already.

It looks high on Catnip. You better keep an eye on this one and your wallet if he's addicted.

Oh sure!  He's all cute and Mr. Whiskers now.  Wittle bitty kitten.  But given the chance, his true nature will come right out.  This could happen to YOU:  http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kG-lJdYchR0/UC3tfwndCdI/AAAAAAAAAu0/yG_lX8MeN0I/s1600/Feral-kitten-eating-adult-cottontail-rabbit.jpg

Our kitty deposited a rat head and tail on the garage entry mat today. Found that when it dislodged from the tread of my sneakers and I "crunched" it on the kitchen floor while bringing in groceries. We're good to go now, so long as he doesn't recycle the body in the house when he comes in tonight.

That just means he loves you and is bringing you a present!

Actually, it's a good sign.  It's an instinctive indication that your cat recognizes you as "alpha" and brought you home some "kill".  You kitty isn't challenging you for control over the pride.

When my wife and I first got together, her cat was part of the deal.  I would often find birds, mice, snakes, etc. outside our front door.  Little gifts for me from 'Blackberry'.

Maceo was Mr. Whiskers predecessor..  He would often bring us presents and leave them in our downstairs living room.  Sometimes alive..  Nothing like chasing a chipmunk out of your house on a Sunday morning...   A few weeks ago the most terrible thing ever happened to Maceo.  My wife backed over him with the car.  Mr. Whiskers is an orphaned kitty from a farm south of us.  The 12 year old daughter bottle fed him until he was ready for a new home.   (Maceo was orphaned at the same farm).  They are probably cousins..

So, For an early Christmas present, my wife and kids got Mr. Whiskers..  I get to chase rodents out of the house now...
