I do balloon art. If all that is in your head is a clown with a dog when I say that, you have to see what the real artists do. I go every couple years to a major convention. Here's a facebook gallery of some of the best stuff. The little girl on many of them is my daughter, the little guy is my son. My daughter goes as a participant, she and I are twisters. My son will be one soon.

And this is a video of our costume contest submission. We had no chance at winning, once you see the enormous perfectly made costumes you'd see why, but our presentation was a crowd hit.

And, for the super Shakespeare fans, there was a contest on "best obscure Shakespeare reference." Here's mine - the writing says "missing baby."

Anyone get it? - the winner was brilliant. Snowman with busted up tent. "The winter of our discount tent."

Here is the gallery of the fashion show. All dresses made from balloons. http://www.balloonhq.com/photos/ts2014/index.php?sect=fashion

Wow, that's pretty impressive. I thought your avatar might be balloon art, so I enlarged it to check. Now you have a new project to work on.

Very cool!   Some very ingenious & creative stuff in the photos.  Did you start out as self-taught or learn from classes/clubs, etc.?

There have been some threads in the past where folks shared their other hobbies and interests.  We have some very interesting and talented folks hanging out on BT.

I belong to a couple of scale modeling forums and they did a similar thread on member's other hobbies.  I was shocked and surprised to learn that triathlon was one of the more common outside interests (I would have thought it would have been geekier stuff...).

I used to be a balloon twisting clown.  I was the best in my troop, but NOTHING compared to the stuff that you posted.

All of the above. I started one day with a basic bok of the 10 easiest one balloon animals. I wanted to do more. I am a member of a magician's site where I hooked up with better artists, and that led me to the people who make the best DVDs, and then actual conventions. Clubs are few and far between, more like jam sessions for twisters.

Is 'Missing Baby' a reference to the breastfeeding by the childless Lady Macbeth?

That's a deep cut, but no, my attempt at "obscure Shakespeare reference" was Love's Labor's Lost.

What's really funny, is that now everyone that saw Wedding Crashers makes the same joke "make me a bicycle clown!" Actually, look at a bike, and look at our 2 inch long tube balloons. Making a bike is about as easy as it gets. I plan to do a fully tricked out tri bike soon.

Sadly no. It's not a major play. I only knew it from being in it in college.

Wow! That is some beautiful work. My 5 year old daughter gets tired of waiting for me to try to blow up a balloon so she just does it herself now . I'm impressed! I'm sure each piece is different but how long does it take to put that stuff together?

How do you make the flower? That isn't even in the shape of a balloon. Mind blasting!

That was uninflated. The owl, the desk set and the flower, the ants at a picnic, those were all a new sub-genre, uninflated.

One of my favorite parts of the jam room was having other people teach my daughter to blow up and tie her own balloons, which will speed up our working together for groups of lots of kids. Now my 7 year old son can tie off balloons too.

So... time..... yeah, everything I posted was a competition piece, meaning many many hours. I don't know if the big bird costume made it into my gallery, but Glen said he put about 20 hours into it. The first place Aladdin and Genie with the distorted face and body methods, that guy worked probably more than 24 hours on the piece. He has some secret methodology not many know about.

My thrown together minion costumes were a few hours. My scarf for Gru was under 3 hours. Actually probably under 90 minutes if I focus.

I have no idea how many hours go into the uninflated pieces. I never get to watch them work. Those folks don't work on them in the jam room.

The zombie is a blend of uninflated and inflated. That artist put most of a day into the tiny details of that thing. She's in med school.

I'm working on a motorcycle I learned from a guy there. I hope to be able to do it in under 2 hours, but my first build will probably take four.

Just for the record - the gallery stuff is almost all other people's work. I'm learning from some of them. The small minions and gru, that's me and my kids. The current profile pic of tiny hat with rabbit, I did make that.

My personal gallery which is woefully outdated and needs new material, is at airweaver.balloonhq.com - I'll be adding a lot over the next couple weeks.
