Veteran 200 Detroit, Michigan | Subject: Getting Married Hi everyone- After getting engaged this weekend, we're batting ideas around for our wedding and Key West keeps coming up. Has anyone been married there before? If so, how was it? Any recommendations? Or if anyone wants to recommend a good place for a destination wedding, feel free to let me know! Thanks! |

I looked into Jamaica, lots of all inclusive resorts that have wedding pacakages that are no fuss. They handle everything. |

Champion 6285 Beautiful Sonoma County | Subject: RE: Getting Married Well, I'm always partial to my part of the world. I just love Sonoma County, CA. Late summer weddings are fantastic here. You NEVER have to worry about rain (it doesn't rain between mid-May and Dec). The hills all around are this beautiful burnished gold color. No humidity to deal with. Vineyards, the ocean, redwood trees, etc. What's not to like? Of course, you're in MI, and I'm sure you know tons of people who got married on Mackinac Island, right? Pretty. |

Anyways, congrats on the engagememnt!! Good luck planning your wedding- I'm sure it's very exciting! I'm not married so I don't have ideas to give you. Although I've heard of people getting married in Hawaii, or going to the Virgin Islands, and even getting married on a cruise! |

Expert 1099 Orlando, FL | Subject: RE: Getting Married This is an absolutely incredibly beautiful place for a wedding (if you can do small and everyone stays there, new ordinances I guess). It's on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, and has views of both bays. September is gorgeous there. http://www.chateauchantal.com If you'd like a more tropical idea, we got married at Sandals St. Lucia and it was amazingly wonderful and fun....not tacky or silly, or cheap. They did it up right and it was free to boot (with our stay) and we got Royal Doulton China on top of that! WHAT FUN!!! I want to do it again (well, same guy tho'), weddings are so much fun! |

What month do you want to get married? You can go down there anytime, but its just wise to minimize the risk of having to cancel. |

Champion 6285 Beautiful Sonoma County | Subject: RE: Getting Married I agree. I just drove by the Domaine Carneros winery on my way to Santa Rosa yesterday and was reminded how awesome it is! Whoa! I drove my Domaine Carneros yesterday too! Freaky! I was thinking of the Carneros 10k we run there every April and how pretty it is. Back on topic, sorta. Way back in a previous (pre-triathlon) life, I worked (with my ex) as a beverage caterer in the area. We catered quite a number of weddings at local wineries and hotels. An outdoor wedding anytime between June and Oct is just beautiful. The great thing about most of Sonoma County (unlike even Napa, IMO) is that we get coastal fog at night, so even if it's 100 degrees during the day (it's a dry heat) at night the temps drop to the 60s. Like right now, it's August and I'm wearing long pants and about to go put on a sweater because it's cool enough for one. |

Extreme Veteran 333 Las Vegas, NV | Subject: RE: Getting Married Vegas baby!!! Could do a cheese ball drive through wedding, or get married in the beautiful Red Rock Canyon, about 15 miles west of the city. Absolutely gorgeous area, and the best training area I've ever been in. Congrats, and best of luck!!!! Remember, compromise is the answer, and if you think you "won" an arguement, you didn't. |

Master 2571 Tiger's Den | Subject: RE: Getting Married run4yrlif - 2006-08-07 4:03 PM QUOTE] Amy and I were married on the beach in La Jolla, CA (yes...in our bare feet like proper dirty hippies). I am still laughing about this!!! Thanks for making my day! My best friend got married in St. Thomas in early June. It was at an all inclusive and it was really nice. They did the barefoot thing and it was really neat. Also, DH and I went to Jamaica a few years ago and saw lots of people getting married on the beach. Looked easy but we were all sitting around in our bathing suits watching. The one in St. Thomas was a lot more private. Probably depends on the resort. Another cool option: get married in the mountains when the colors are changing or it snowy! I know Gatlinburg, TN is really nice for stuff like that... |
