Veteran 260 Hong Kong | Subject: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Got registered while running NYC Marathon!!! Learned that I got in as I crossed the finish line. Initially, I was in so much pain, I didn't know if to be happy or cry!!!! Of course I'm kidding, I started triathlon almost two years ago, and everything I've done so far has been with purpose of getting ready for IMFL 2011. I was freaking out because I was going to be running in NYC while online registration opened, but that's what family and good friends are for!!!! Starting a little, well deserved brake, and then start training and racing again to get ready for THE BIG PARTY !!!!

Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread 1st off, what do you fly? I'm surprised at the number of pilots on here. I'm a rotorhead IP I've got B2B this weekend then I'm not doing a darned thing for a couple weeks then back to winter maintenance. Guess I'll find out if I can survive 140.6 miles Sat evening/night. |

Expert 663 Williamsburg, VA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Daniel good luck with B2B. I was planning on doing that next year if I couldn't get into IMFL. Surprised that it took so long for it to close. I was also sick when I was trying to register-then Active's sight was screwing up for me and had to reg on my friends computer. Stressful but I did it. Now the work begins. I start marathon trianing next week for my first marathon. Just hope to get through this year injury free and enjoy the ride. See everyone next year! |

Not sure how bad, but 12 months and a new attitude toward training smart and listening to my body and we'll get through this. Good luck at B2B Daniel.Off to download a training plan and see what I need to do to get ready for it's start. Can't wait to watch this thread for a few months.EW |

Regular 125 Saint Johns, FL | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Boxer, I see weekend drives to Savannah and Jax for 6 hour training rides in our future. I got fit for a P3 after Augusta. 10 miles on it, and seems it will be some time before I can lift a leg to put more miles on it, but it's calling. For all reading this post, got fit by Matt Cole at All3sports, and can't say enough about how well I was treated there. Highly recommended.EW |

Extreme Veteran 483 St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Hey guys/girls glad to meet you all, have finally thawed after saturdays cold, can't really complain thought think it helped my time - signed up for 2011 on Friday, regretted it briefly around mile 20 on Saturday, but am fully back on board now.Know its gonna be fun getting to know you all - was terrific to meet all BTers here in PCB before the race (we met for practice swims & lunches) & to see alot of familiar faces on the course. I'm doing the repeat as my buddy joined me this year to assist & he wanted to enter for 2011 - turns out another friend registered online - so will have a 3 man training team going - which'll be new for me. I'm still in PCB get home late tomorrow, will do a race report over the weekend, so stay tuned ) |

Looking for lodging this week...I hear Shores of Panama is pretty good and I need to check out VRBO...any other suggestions? There are TONS of condos right on the race site. People are hurting to rent. I got a two bedroom, two bath for 75 a night, but it was .5 miles from the site. I had friends stay at the Boardwalk, which is right at transition, but they never really got a chance to decompress and get away from the action. We based out of a condo a friend owns about 300 yards from the boardwalk and it was perfect. Quiet, calm with a great beach. It took about 5 minutes to walk to transition from there. Not sure what the name of the place is, but they have to have over 2000 units right near the boardwalk and since it's low season it is cheap, cheap. |

I bought my Cervelo there and got the $400 fit for "free". They'll work with you on a price if you don't have the $400. They are good people. |

Looking for lodging this week...I hear Shores of Panama is pretty good and I need to check out VRBO...any other suggestions? Jasha stayed there this year I think. We are at the Dunes of Panama which is pretty much on the run course, but I little to far to be walking back and forth all the time (the days before and after your IM). It is decently nice though. Another one to check out would be the Summit, looks nice from the outside, pretty close and again right on the run course. I think KathyG was staying there this year. Anywho, I'm just lurking here. Still in the post race glow and pain. Hope you all have a great year of training. IMFL is great and I will always remember it fondly. I'm putting off cutting off my race bracelet since I want the feeling to last |

Really looking forward to the race. I have done four 70.3 and will do my 5th in Orlando May 15, 2011for FREE. Expert 769 Murfreesboro, Tennessee | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I'm in!! I signed up online. It took about 5 minutes to get on. I did my first 70.3 in Augusta this year. This will be my first 140.6. My wife and I already reserved 2 condos onsite. They are a little pricey, but I am expecting several family members showing up as my personal cheering section. I wanted to be close enough so they could easily access the condo while I am out on the course. I look forward to meeting everyone and picking up some great ideas/advice over the next year. |

Looking for lodging this week...I hear Shores of Panama is pretty good and I need to check out VRBO...any other suggestions? My friends Paul and Cat stayed at Top of the Gulf, 2 hotels to the left of race HQ, for something around $80/night (4 nights). I stayed in a campground right across the street for $20/night, shaded sites, hot showers, quiet and fairly secure. See my FB pics. Lots of really nice hotels a little farther west along the beach (very highrise!). I was 0.4 miles from race site from my campsite. Nice seafood at Saltwater Grill, and cheap beer at Hammerhead Fred's ($1.50 domestic drafts afternoons 4-6). And don't let my cannonball jellyfish reports frighten you...they're harmless. Mostly. |

I would have copied and pasted it but it kinda messed up the formatting on that page because of the pictures I put in. Hit me up if you end up wanting to come by and pre-ride the course. If I'm still in FL I will help you out however I can. I live about an hour from PCB. |
