I did the sprint last year and frequently ride the long course in training.  It is rolling hills with some descent climbs around the lake then into Boulder City.  The last few miles are a pretty good climb into town.  It is probaly the most difficult bike course locally second to Silverman and you can always count on some wind. The run is part road and part trail but pretty flat.  T2 is in Boulder City in a nice park. It is also the HalfMax Championship this year so you must qualify.  That leaves me out but I hope to do Silverman which has a similar profile.  It is a really well run race though, Good Luck!  Chet

THanks for the info. Actually, they have 200 general entry spots, about 75 of which are taken

I'm not 100% sure, but if you visit www.BBSCtri.com (they organize the race) and look up the profile and map for RAGE 5 - that should tell you.  If not let me know and I can give you more details since I did RAGE in the spring.  It's at the same location, and I would expect to be the same course.

Thanks Jim - thought it might be similar so I looked there.  the bike is mostly the same, except for the climb to Boulder (but no profile listed), and the run is totally different, but I have heard it's mostly flat (ish)

I looked a little closer, and you are correct.  That's too bad because the run for Rage was spectacular (views).

I will need to look into it a little more.  I may try to do this one, but I may just do the Oly and do the Las Vegas HIM.  It just depends which works better with my IM plan/schedule.  I'll be there racing for sure though.

Congrats Chris,

See you there. I can't race it since I manage the water portion of this race. Happy training and see you in a few.

As an update, I spent some time mapping the bike and run profile, with elevation, and posted it at http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=132232&posts=1#M1668541

Yeah, I found that out too.  But, I did find a race in Parker, AZ on November 9th.   200 mile drive from Vegas so not bad.   I signed up for the Olympic.

I decided to pull out of all my races to focus on Silverman, so I won't be doing this one anymore.  Good luck to all!

I may jockstrap it and hopefully, I can meet a couple of the other BTers....

As an edit to my prior post re: the run course, they originally had it going out into the desert and pretty hilly.  Now it's all in Boulder City and very flat

Hey Chris, sounds like you have a pretty good feel/handle for the course. We're going to ride part of it including the last few miles going up to Boulder City, (it's a little up hill ) we'll post the gps data Sunday night for ya.

Look forward to meeting you, we'll be out taking some pictures and video's on race day.

Good luck to you and all the other athletes!!

I may still jocktrap it...  I was trying to find a cowbell and make a sign and bother everyone out of T1!

My HOA has a community yard sale that day though, so I might have to stay home to get rid of a lot of excess stuff... (I need more room for tri stuff!)

Good luck, ya'll...

I am coming out for the HIM. Hopefully, I will run into some of the other BTers doing the race. I will be the one sporting a Hawkeye Logo on my head. Does anyone know why the bike course is only 54 miles? It seems like extending the turn-around an extra mile out would be a no brainer.

You mean from the map link they sent out?  I think that's more to do with software or someone mapping it than the actual distance.  The run also maps out at 13 miles.  Being the Halfmax championships, I'd be surprised if the bike/run were actually short.
