Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi guys where is a good place around Phoenix, to go and get tri gear? I have found, Tribe, Triple sports, and iron gear, are there any that i'm missing? Do you guys prefer one over the other? Ultimately, my first purchase would probably be a wetsuit, but i'm looking to try them out first before i actually buy them. Thanks again guys, Aaron |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Those are good locations. The other is Tri-Sports, which is located down in Tucson (and online, of course). Tri-Sports is supposed to be opening a brick and mortar store on Mill Ave in Tempe later this year, but as of yet, those of us in Phoenix have to order online or make the boring drive to Tucson to their store. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() If you're looking for a wetsuit, I would try Xterra out. They usually have good sales or deals through BT. Their return policy and customer service is really good and I'm very happy with my Vortex full I bought a few years back. I just ordered through theur website. Just a thought. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Of the local shops, Tribe all the way. I cannot say enough good things about everyone there. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Tribe is the biggest, but can be overwhelming - especially to someone new to the sport. I bought my bike there and lots of other gear, but don't be afraid to ask questions and definitely shop around. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I always prefer Triple Sports over Tribe. I found nothing wrong with Tribe at all but I found the staff at Triple Sports to be downright enthusiastic to help me and moreso guide me. All of the shops mentioned are great. It just depends which meets your needs the most. |

I did see a hot blonde sporting one of their kits riding loops on Thompson Peak this morning. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm a Triple Sports guy myself...When I first started doing triathlons I checked out both places (Since they're right across the street from each other.) and to me there was huge difference in the treatment I got as a "newb". I just felt a lot more comfortable with the staff at Triple Sports and thought that they were more enthusiastic to answer my [completely] "newbish" questions. I give a lot of credit to them for making my transition into triathlon smooth, easy and exciting and they have earned my loyalty. With that being said, Tribe's store is big and impressive and I have heard a lot of good things about the owner and their staff. I'd just check out both and see what you think... |

Its a new bike store that offers a bunch of different services from coaching to wind tunnel testing to custom bike fitting to retail accessories and clothing. http://www.ride-faster.com/services/retail/ I will actually be there on the 11th of Feb, gonna get my old bike fitted to me. Maybe next year it will be a new bike, but for now this one stays. As for customer service Paraik McGlynn has been awesome and very responsive to emails. There shop seems to be one of the best from what i have heard. Hope that helps. For everyone else giving advice on where to get Tri stuff, thank you so very much, I will head down to triple sports and tribe and check them both out! This is an awesome community, Cheers to you all! Aaron |

It was hard for me to find the address for the retail location, and when I did it can't be copy/pasted to map. Edited by Slidell4life 2012-02-01 2:26 PM |

I think Tribe has more of a "hands off" approach so you kind of have to ask them first. With that said, Alan and Jake are freaking awesome. |

Landis in Tempe is the only shop that I trust to work on my bikes...I haven't been doing tris for very long, but I've been mountain biking in the Valley since I move here in 1999. I've had a few places care for my bikes over the years, but Landis has never done me wrong and has fixed issues that other shops couldn't. For prerace tune-ups I won't trust anyone else... |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Earlier in the thread I told eveyone i would let them know how the fitting at "Faster" in Scottsdale went. Paraic McGlynn did the fitting and he is exceptional. I ride a really old bike (1980's steel frame, with probably late 1980's shimano 105 components). I am also new to cycling, so i figure if he took that much time to help a new guy with a bad bike, I can only imagine how good a fitting would be for better people who understand the magic he is doing. Paraic spent 3 Hours on the fitting! There were cameras involved, video analysis, body analysis, shoe fit analysis, Power evaluation of your pedal stroke, and a past sports/health evaluation among other things i am probably missing. Hell they even have a cycling specific wind tunnel and rehab rooms (not part of the fitting ![]() I was literally blown away with the knowledge and kindness that they showed me, never once did i feel like i was looked down on or belittled for being new. It was amazing to see how one little anatomical problem with me (arch of left foot is about 1/2 inch lower then the right) throws everything off, and how he systematically went about fixing the problem until he and I were pleased with the result. The shop is also a nice shop and has some really nice bikes and equipment, I'd definately suggest stopping by if you guys are in the area. They impressed me, and I'll be back. Hope that helps someone. Edited by alehr2 2012-02-11 7:05 PM |

![]() | ![]() Make sure you get a well fitting wetsuit because it's all about the fit. Depending on your size, I would go with an Orca, Blue70, or Zoot. Earlier this year I rented a wetsuit from Triwetsuitrentals.com and the wetsuit arrived quick and was perfect, so that's an option if you're not looking to spend $250-$300. Swim Outlet always has good deals on their wetsuits but sometimes their inventory is thin. Just make sure you know that when you put that wetsuit out you are going to feel like a sardine and that's a good thing! Edited by fastball1977 2021-05-14 8:13 AM |
