Subject: RE: Mountain Man Triathlon - Sprint Course : Official ThreadThis is the only sprint distance I seem to do each year now - and it is a fun race. As you said, no 15% grade hill on the bike, and no run up the hill towards Marshall Lake (it is much more fun to turn around RIGHT when you get to the Marshall Lake hill road - mocking it until August when it will have its revenge). The water is a comfortable 72ish for this race - enough to go without a wetsuit, but as always, if wetsuits are legal, I am in one! Just get to the lake early on race morning - the road and parking can be a bit frustrating if you are a last-minute 'arriver.' For those who plan to race the Mtn Man Oly or 70.3 in August, this is a great warm up, as it gets you acclimated to the thinner air (most recognizable while swimming - in my opinion), and if you have the juice after the race, you can ride out to the big hill and back (roughly 20-25 miles round trip), and you can always go run the Marshall Lake hill (but why?). |
