ok, today I am getting motivated and working out every day for 2 weeks to get back on track. man, I turned from total animal to complete slug after completing the tri 2 weeks ago....

I feel belly fat creeping back, muscles dropping off, my chairs are getting dents in them from my butt. my bike is getting dusty, the elastic on my swim suit is degrading, my sneakers are lonely just tossed in the back of the closet while the sandles and sling backs get to go out....

I need to be motivated, urged, nagged, disciplined.... HELP!!!

Bootygirl,

I know how you mean. Every since I did my tri in May I haven't been on track. Have you been swimming at the reservoir? I'm going swimming after work today. I will take the two week challenge with you. I will work out everyday (twice on tuesday and thursday) for the next two weeks. Even on my race days. I have got to get back into it. I'm starting to feel fat again. And that's not good because I'll just eat myself into a depression.

Hey, I have a race on Thursday. I'm doing the Stroke and Stride in Boulder. It should be fun. Talk to you soon. O.

Mary - consider the Stroke and Stride (in Boulder) on Thurs.  750 or 1500m swim then 5K run.

You go girl!  Isn't it you who has the quote about bodies in motion leave an impression, but a body on the couch leaves a dent?

Write out some new goals - long term and short term.

I am soooo with you on the lack of motivation since completing my first tri a couple of weeks ago!! Glad to know I'm not the only one =)

I sent in my COMSA membership form and was hoping I'd at least be motivated to do open water swimming, but it's been 3 weeks and I'm still waiting on my card - argh. So that's my excuse for not swimming, but I have no excuse for the rest of my laziness!

I might join you guys on forcing myself to work out every day for the next two weeks - good idea. I'm thinking of doing one of the Stroke and Stride races soon to get me going again, and I'm wavering about signing up for the Fall Chill to keep me going through September...

I've got a case of the blahs down here in Georgia too.

Ever since my last tri (3rd ever), I just can't seem to find that spark I need to get back in the groove. What really sucks most of all is that I have a sprint tri on Sunday and I don't feel like I've properly prepared for it all. So the question becomes do I get out there and give it my all and hope for the best or simply treat it more as a training exercise.

Cheers

I'm kinda in a similar situation, or I will be soon. I've got a couple of sprint races coming up -- one this weekend, and the second in Oct. Other than that, I don't have anything planned out. I've decided not to do the Treasure Island sprint in Nov because the price is just too high for my budget right now. So, after Oct, I won't have anything to work towards until next May.

I just kinda feel "in between" right now. It's too soon to start training for my OLY race next May, but I'm bored with maintenance training for my sprints this year.

I think I need to set up some "in between" goals -- like improving my 10K race times or something. It's hard to get motivated to run when there's nothing to work on.

Karen,

I'll see you on SAturday as I'm doing that tri....Is Eric doing the Oly on Sunday?

Ladies, I'm in the same boat....aftre my Oly in June I had surgery so was out for a month but have never picked up my stride since then. Went out with a gf today for a brick (she's doing the tri sat too) and she SMOKED ME! and made me realize how out of shape I've gotten.

It's a good kick in the butt that I need.

Karen, see you on Saturday! Sorry to hear about the T1 tri...
hey, we ran into a girl on Saturday who's putting together a 5k/10k on 9/11 in Penngrove...when I find details I'll pass them on....I'm planning to do it.

You doing the ukiah tri in sept?

Can I get in on this 2 week challenge? Just finished a tri yesterday, and I ALWAYS slump after, but not this time! I will accept the Colorado-plea-for-help challenge!! Only... I do need to rest until Wednesday. My body is crying from yesterday, still. But then... I'm sooo there!

Have you done the Stroke and Stride, COgirl? I haven't done it yet because I looked at the finishing times and I don't want to be last! I'm doing 10 min/miles running and I don't know what my swim time would be at all. Is it a pretty laid back crowd?

Cuda,

Don't worry about doing the S&S because I'm going to be last! So sign up. And Stace I better see you at the Fall Chill or I'm just going to come by your house and stalk you! (How's that for motivation). OK Colorado girls (you too in Georgia and beyond) it's pink squares unless you've got a green one for a race. We're going to do something everyday, even if it's a walk in the park. Let's get out there and let's get motivated. Whoo. Hoo. Hear us roar!!!!!

Oh, Gary... you must not remember the slough of despair that happens after a race, where all of a sudden it's three weeks later and you realize your bike hasn't seen the sun.

It's a horrible thing! I will not give into the post-race slump! You have to fight it BEFORE it happens, because if you don't it's already over!

Ok... well maybe it's just me, but... FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!!!

Dana,

You are soooooo right. Listen to her Gary. My bike hasn't seen the sun since July 18. Ahhhhh. Crykee! I have just over a month until my next tri and if I don't get some hill work in soon I"m going to die. So Gary, fight, fight, fight.

You guys are seriously crackin me up - but really I do hear ya. Today was a nice day off basking in the glory of finishing in the top 50 or so - oops, must have dyslexia - thats bottom 50 - but I'm baskin anyway. Would be very easy not to get back on the horse for another few days, which I know from experience leads to another 10 years of (as Mary said) sculpting the couch in the shape of my ass.

But tomorrow, I wil FIGHT!!!! I will do some form of workout. I have a marathon on October 10!

BTW - Whats the name of this club? Is there a cool acronym for it?

Gary

I'm inviting myself to this party! I'm turning into a crabby scary monster. I have no energy. There's too much to do. Blah, blah, blah. With a little moral support from my friends, I can take one of those hours that I'm thrashing around being a grouch and use it for exercise. Trust me, EVERYONE will be happier

Today I'm going to swim and do yoga. that'll get me a "pink", won't it?
