Sockless, Minimalist Running Shoe Recommendations

I't a long link, but it works.  I think they were designed for Chi running.  And although I've never seen them I hear that Newton running shoes are similar.

I like my Nike Frees, I've heard somewhere that poeple do take the insoles out and get on great with the shoes.

I run in both Adidas Rockets and Asic Piranhas. Both are great shoes for me.

These are sort of borderline "minimalist" but they are very lightweight and very comfortable.  I've been running a lot in Nike Lunarglides which offer a bit more support than the Free's but nowhere near as much as their primary line of running shoes.  I really like them.  Well worth a look.

I have the Nike Frees 5 .  I love, love, love them.  No blisters or chaffing anywhere from Day 1, and they are ultra light.

You can ask Bryancd, but I believe he likes the new Zoot shoes, and I've gotten some good recommendations for them.

I just started running in a pair of VivoBarefoot technology shoes from Terra Plana under the recomendation of my podiatrist.  They are super comfy and are great for my natural gait.  I have a super wide toe box though, so YMMV.  I've heard GREAT things about the Terra Plana EVO, but they didn't have my size available.

Here is another thought: If you like your Nike Free's except for the insole, why not just remove it?  That was a trick my doc recommended to get me more space in my shoes and it's worked wonders!

Vibram 5 Fingers or Run a Moc are pretty close to barefoot.

I recently got the Zoot Ultra Speeds (the one with no laces at all - it's like a sock with some protection on the sole) and love them. This spring I did the majority of my running in Nike race flats (don't know the name of them - but they weigh nothing and have exactly zero support) and they worked really well for me - always barefoot in both of these with no problems.

I'll throw my bid in for my KSwiss Kona-S shoes that I got free for registering for the KS HIM. I love them. Only done a 10K in them sockless though.

That was the tip of the day.  I have two pair if NFree's and upon removing the insoles I also fixed the reason why they're rubbing blisters into my arches.  Thank you.  Being that I have a running shoe fetish, I'll also be trying some of the other suggestions here in this thread.  Many thanks to everyone.

One of those RARE situations where the best solution is the cheapest! Glad taking the insoles out worked. I'll have to remember that!

Any of these available in a 16E? I'd love to try a 'barefoot' shoe, but I haven't been able to find anything in my size.

Saucony Kinvara are my favorite.  7.5 oz are what they weight. Lightest shoes I have found that work for me. I need some support.

The Saucony Kinvaras are awesome. I've only run sockless in these. I had one very small blister in my last race but I think it was caused by a small stone or some sand.
They are light, and have more support (IMO) than the Nike Frees.

Not a big fan of the Nike frees. They don't fit my feet well.
