Subject: True Blood on HBO

anyone watching?  First episode looked interesting, second one seemed a little weak, but they're still developing characters.   And I just can't stop seeing Ana Paquin as still a little girl.

Looks like next week we learn a bit more about Vampire "society"   I'll give it a couple more episodes.....

I've not seen the HBO thing, I don't have cable, but if you want to read how that series came to be the book series is a set of excellent mystery alternate reality books:

http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Until-Southern-Vampire-Mysteries/dp/0441...
Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampire Mysteries, No. 1)

I love the whole series!

I watched the first episode months ago...ummm spouce got a bootleg copy of the pilot...I liked it, but havn't watched the second episode yet.  Will see how it goes.  Normally I end up watching shows like this in repeats or if SO records it, I will watch a bunch of episodes on weekends

No, but I kinda wish I had HBO.  I really liked Six Feet Under, even though I'm only halfway through the third season so far.

Same guy that did 6FU, which I L O V E D, which is why I am willing to give this a chance.

For the most part HBO has some quality original programming, Entourage, Deadwood, Sopranos, 6FU, all better than network shows IMHO

Wife and I are watching.  She feels like some of the characters are little overblown and outlandish - I think it is simply a function of the style of storytelling.

I love her best friend Tara. She steals the show  in every scene she is in. I can't quite catch on to the vampires in the mainstream of society angle they are playing yet. Seems kind of "political" at first but, I'm sure it will work in the long run. Looks like next week we get to meet some unsavory vampires....finally.

I just watched both episodes. I think this could be another winner. I'll keep watching for now. I miss Deadwood and Sopranos.

I am watching, still waiting for it to get  to be a "can't miss show". I have to admit I am also a little disappointed in Entourage so far...

Finally caught up with True Blood on  ON DEMAND.    Sexy scenes in episode two were kinda scrambled by the connection (not sure if that was on purpose).

Kinda interesting storyline and the characters are decent.  Especially Sookie and Tara.   Previews of 3 looks intense.....

"What are you?"  "I'm a Waitress".     There's alot more to Sookie than we have seen......

I am enjoying the show for the first two episodes.  Love the sexiness of it.  And how everyone seems to be in love with someone who doesn't really notice them.

Uh oh, Kiss Of Death.   We were watching on DVR last night, about 30 minutes in.... I give a little sighj.  Wendy says "I'm bored, you?"  "Yep."  we turned it off.

It just wasn't going anywhere interesting.  Ana Paquin is too uneven to enjoy watching.  The vampires were too campy.

The preview from last week certainly promised something more than what was delivered.  I think I am off the True Blood bandwagon.

Watched the 3rd episode last nite on tape.  Kinda slow.. Wish Bill wasn't a wimp vampire, like kick some of the crap out of the moocher vamps.

Something about Sam the bar owner, he is special in sort of way.  Tara, what can I say about her....

Future highlights looked good though....

Havn't watched #3 yet...but Rickey said there is a good scene that the gay men will like...not sure what that means...

I have to agree that the bar owner is special.  I think werewolf-ish...there is a dog that keeps watching over the main girl and he has a picture of a sheep dog over looking a sheperdess (little bo peep)...so not sure if he is the dog...or what?

I'm with you.  My wife jumped off the wagon on this show last week.  I'm giving it one more week to draw me in or I'm done.

I did not catch the  sheep dog pic...nice eye!  We saw in ep. 3 that Sam seems to bark in his sleep.  But then they showed him in a scene with what LOOKS like the same dog, but he greats the dog by saying "Hello my brother" so I think it literally IS his brother or he is some kinda werewolf and it was a play on words.  I've never read the books the show is based on but others who have say there are characters int he books who are animal shape changers.

I love werewolf characters...plus Sam is HOT...so I am hoping he is a shapeshifter.  I will probably watch Heroes and Trueblood this weekend.  during the week I don't watch a lot of new TV.

I never thought of the werewolfish angle....maybe.  Yeah the nasty vampires had a boytoy that they were using........Won't tell what happened to him....Interesting info from Bill.

mrsmdg2003 walked in the living room just as THAT particular scene came on the screen. She kinda shook her head and told me to turn it down so the kids don't hear it! Anne Rice kinda plays that angle in her books but never goes as far as to make them sexual beings. I also agree the bar owner is not just another human character. I'm not hooked yet but the show has potential.

OK, I know I wrote the show's obit, but it was still on the DVR list, so I watched last night's episiode, and damn if it wasn't good!

At the end, when Sam was rolling around in the sheets (as a dog would) I said to my wife 'you know Sam's the dog, right?"  She was very impressed with my (BT given) storyline acumen.  thanks

Yeah, I guess I'm hooked for one more week.  It's developing into a murder mystery more then anything else.  I was thinking Good 'ol Sam was the killer when he pocketed those gloves to walk whatshername to her car.  Turns out he was sneaking into the murder scene to....what?  Sniff out clues?  Just smell the scent of someone he missed as a friend?  Definitely more to Sam then meets the eyes.  I am getting a bit sick of Jason and his antics though.  We get it...he is a sex machine who is dumb as dirt.

So nifty how they were able to incorporate Priapism into the show...and how to relieve the pressure.    Tara got to watch... (she is the show).
