Obviously a few of you have experienced some intermittent site issues the last few days.  We did a memory swap on our problem server and that didn't fix it.  If all goes well, we plan to get a new server tomorrow.  I will keep you updated, though in the meantime, we still may have some intermittent outages.

Again, many apologies for the server being flaky.  We have a new one ready to go online later this afternoon.  It's been a little more difficult than usual, the storms that went through a few days ago from the midwest has left a few key people without power.  We're doing the best we can, thank you for your patience.

Thanks, Ron and BT staff, for the update.

I've seen a couple of posts here and in FB and a couple of real pizzy-moany blogs about the "flakiness" and issues with BT, but the same persons probably don't come here to check, either.

Is it possible to post this kind of information in a more global location or in all the forums since there seems to be a split of who goes to which forum area?

Thanks!

In the future, I could probably do some type of persistent header.  I guess a post here and then updating FB and Twitter is not nearly enough anymore.  And I did underestimate the length of the upgrade process.

The site is running on a new server this morning.  Please let me know if you see any problems anywhere.

I can only get to http://beginnertriathlete.com - if I try to go to www.beginnertriathlete.com I get an IIS7 screen.  Tried on 2 different computers.

It works fine for me.  You must be using some sort of wonky Canadian computer.

Tried Chrome, Firefox and IE8.  Using both my work internet connection and an external DSL line.

Edit to add: Neither IE8 or Firefox would have ever gone to BT before on these computers so not a caching thing.  Did a flushdns as well.

Will do.  You are getting the information out, it's what persons are choosing to look at or not look at, or perhaps only utilize one aspect.

I know what you were/are going through, since I'm now in the Web Administration side of things at my work with taking a new position.  High availability is a must, but people don't know what happens behind the scenes to make it happen or continue to make it work.

I do note that after I select "Submit", there is a lag of a few seconds (can go up to 10 sometimes, or more) before the submission is completed (I'm using Mozilla Firefox 25.0.1 and sometimes IE 9 on a Windows 7 64 Enterprise 64 bit OS fully-patched on a 100 Mb/sec LAN (so pipe is extremely fast), and also use an iPad, OS not determined at this time but it may be the latest, on Safari).  Prior to the new changes, or even before the new BT web look, that did not occur (obviously, changing to a new web environment could incorporate new things that didn't exist prior, but eventually will get weeded out).

Arend,

Is this working at your work yet?  Would your work be blocking BT for any reason?  With the new server, we got a new DNS for it, some systems seem to be holding the old DNS in it's cache...trying to go to the older server.  You may have to reboot your computer and router/modem.

Clear the browser cache first, then flush the DNS by following the information here:

It's working now, thanks Ron.  I did clear caches and do a dns flush yesterday but my work's DNS servers may have been using the old data.

I am getting an upload error when I try to upload my workout data from my Garmin to my blog. I haven't ever gotten the error before and am wondering if it is related to the upgrade. I have cleared history on my Garmin and done a reset in each of the modes to make sure it uploads cleanly but still no luck.

thanks,
Scott

Scott,

I know this is a bizarre fix, but restart your computer, modem and router and give it another try.

Hey Ron - not sure if it is related, but it seems like email notification of thread updates is no longer working. For a while there I was actually getting TWO emails for every update, but now I am not getting any. Because of this I almost missed all of the Canadians in the SBR Utopia Group beginning their annual Whine-Fest about how cold and dreary their training has become..... That would have been a tragedy!

We are working on email notifications.  We have been overzealously blacklisted from a few email providers - going to a new server with a new IP, sending out a high volume of email triggered their spam alert and blocked a lot of email.  We are working with them to lift the blocks.

Just wanted to say thanks for all your efforts. There was a short period of time that BT was not available, but I found that the DNS servers here are a "bit" slow.

Thanks Ron - just swung through I get an update (still not getting emails) - but that makes sense. I just switched my email address here to a different one so will see if that works. Anything we can do on our end to get BT white listed with our provider?

Most email providers have lifted the ban, a few remain though should be resolved in the next few days.

We HAVE had workout email issues, but I think we resolved those last night as I confirmed they are sending again...again, due to a new server configuration issue.

Now that we are running IIS7, when we have to go to other new servers down the line, all of this 'stuff' (uploader issues, albums, maps, etc) shouldn't be an issue as this new version of server software makes taking all of these configurations that we built over 6 years, to the next one easily.

Everything seems to work for me except strength training on mobile. It has been that way for a while now. I keep seeing posts that everything is working and I keep getting same error. Thanks for the attention you have put into this already.
