Modesto, California | Subject: RE: January Challenge - Swim Team A Hey Swim Team A, This will be my first official challenge. I am looking forward to this to get to know my teamates, and of course WIN! My name is Stuart and this will be my second year doing tris, I love swimming but have not focused on consistancy in my training. My goal for the challenge will be 30,000 yards which I am very capable of doing If I make all of my masters practices. I work 75+ hours a week and do this to stay healthy and fit, seems to be working so far! Happy new years Team, lets dunk these other teams!!!!!! Suggested team name:Wicked Wahoo's |

Extreme Veteran 665 Vancouver, British Columbia | Subject: RE: January Challenge - Swim Team A Hey Everyone! I'm Jeni and I'm doing my first Sprint Tri in March. Got into the triple training thing after tearing my ACL last winter and not being allowed to be active made me crave being active. While I would work out and occasionally be active before my knee surgery, I've since developed an endurance training induced endorphin dependency. This is also my first time in a challenge. I grew up on a competitive swim team but didn't swim for a decade before this year. My goal is 25,000 meters and I chose swimming to motivate me to get to the pool in the mornings. I live at a university and I can't believe how a 5 minute walk to the pool seems so "hard" sometimes. I like the name Wicked Wahoo's and also will suggest something to do with Polar Bears because I am doing a polar bear swim New Years Day in the cold Canadian Pacific Ocean. |

Master 1655 NJ | Subject: RE: January Challenge - Swim Team A Hi there - Im Kristin and this is my first challenge. (That kind of sounds like Im introducing myself into an AA meeting or something...) ANYWAY, Getting into the pool will mean getting to the gym by 6am - I definitely wouldn't have done it on my own on any consistant basis, so this will definitely motivate me! This is my 3rd season of triathlons - and Im training for my first HIM (Rhode Island) in July. I can't wait!! Love the suggestions for team names - I guess my suggestion would be Wet and Wild - Happy New Year and happy swimming |

Extreme Veteran 461 Minnesota | Subject: RE: January Challenge - Swim Team A Hello everyone! I'm Jeni as well and this is my third challenge thus far. I'm sure I'll be doing them every month because I'm an addict now My goal for this challenge is 9750 yards, which is puny compared to everyone else, but I've only been swimming for 2 months. This is big compared to where I started from! I like Wet and Wild. |

Extreme Veteran 504 Tucson, AZ | Subject: RE: January Challenge - Swim Team A Hello to all. My name is Emerson and this is my first challenge. And, I need it!!! Running is easy, I work out of my house so I go to work in running shoes and a dri-fit. Out the door at sun up. Biking is almost as easy, pull the bike off the ceiling of the garage and out the door. Swimming..... Well, I have had more excuses than second grader with their hand in the cookie jar... I chose mine in hours not distance because I don't know my pace yet. I look forward to the challenge!!!! I started this drive to complete a triathlon a little over two and a half years ago. In '03, my wife had a massive stroke and became paralyzed on one side, mostly blind and forgetful. The next year I was diagnosed with cancer. In the spring of '05 I woke up a blob, took a good look at what she had accomplished in learning to read, write and walk again and determined I was a butt head for not accomplishing anything before me for the rest of my life. So we moved from Ohio to AZ and started a new life together. Now, 35 pounds lighter, a bunch of marathons later and a good cycling habit, it is time to get the swimming in line. My goal is to complete a 1/2 IM in June of '09 to celebrate five years cancer free. I look forward to winning this thing with all of you. |

Expert 626 Las Vegas, NV | Subject: RE: January Challenge - Swim Team A I would agree, "Wet and Wild" is a good name for this team. Now let's have everyone else on this team post something, as I want make sure we are all accountable to each other. I bid low for this month, as I have a few travel trips included in the schedule. I grew-up as a swimmer back in the 70's/80's and then got busy with life. Now trying to get back in shape and start racing again. Mostly for weigth loss, then to qualify for Kona. Happy New YEars to all members of this team and BT. |

I just signed up for the Hy-Vee Tri in Iowa in June. It will be my first competitive open water event. Last Dec and Jan I devoted to swimming so I am looking forward to this challenge. Good luck all and have a great time. |

Hey! Some of us don't LIVE on BT!!! I would be willing to be the team captain. Better now than when I'm in the middle of a semester of school. Let's just go with Wet and Wild. We've had a few say that it sounds good and no one hating it. |

Extreme Veteran 504 Tucson, AZ | Subject: RE: January Challenge - Swim Team A I am good with "Wet and Wild". For that matter, I am so happy with so many taking the lead I will go with just about anything. Also, Jeni, if you wish to lead I am happy with that. I will do my part and lead someday but it will have to be some other time. January for me is a time train wreck. I start my Swimming hours on Thursday and will gladly help this team do well. I will hit the bike tomorrow... Again, thanks Jeni for stepping up! PS: Jeni, don't worry about your swim distance. I did mine in hours because I am so new at swimming that I don't even have a good frame of reference as to how fast I go... EK

Pro 3932 Irvine, California | Subject: RE: Wet and Wild Hi everyone, I'm Keith. Was on a run challenge back in the fall and really enjoyed it -- it really helped me stay motivated and get out the door to log those miles! Now that I've started a real tri training plan towards my first tri in May, I need to get serious about swimming too. I also don't have a good idea yet what my pace is, though I know it's slow! That's why I chose time over distance. I'm also not pledging a huge amount of time, either, since I don't want to go too far over what my training plan calls for. (My plan calls for 3 hours, but I'm pledging to do 4.) "Wet and Wild" is a fine name by me! Just got done with a 30-minute bike trainer workout, and still have a 30-minute run (or elliptical) planned. Need to work off the holiday weight! HAPPY NEW YEAR! |

Last month I did the swim challenge in hours and had made a goal of 4 hours... which I didn't make It's a lot harder to get to the pool than it is to strap on shoes and go run! But I have plenty of wiggle room for this month if I have to miss a swim day for some reason. |
